Question Hoster 3.2 Release?

Hi

Maybe this one can only be answered by MTU, After receiving the email from Mtu about the 2 errors (bugs) in Hoster 3.110 you said that Hoster 3.2 would fix the issues with the importing of HDZIP files (and other HDxxx files). It was stated that 3:2 would hopefully be released on Friday August 19th, but has not been released yet.
Could you please confirm the new release date for Hoster v3.2?

We have a lot of songs coming up with error when we try to play!

Looking forward to your reply,
Kind Regards,

Mike

The bug had nothing to do with importing songs from your hard drive (zip, bin etc). The bug only kicked in when you edited the artist names or title - of those particular songs - from the tool/edit songs screen and then rebuild the database (the damage is done before the database is rebuilt it just won't be a problem until after you rebuild).
If you edited the artist names or song titles of any songs imported from the HD they are damaged and cannot be fixed with 3.2 they will have to be reimported. 3.2 will prevent this from happening in the future.

If you are getting errors but have not edited those songs then you have another problem, most likely they were zipped with Toolz set at max compression which require that you either unzip and rezip at a lower compression before importing or just unzip and import as mp3+g.

Question MTU Bug Notification with 3.110

I don't know if I accidentally deleted it or never got it but I have not seen the warning that MTU sent concerning (2) bugs in the latest version. Is that email posted somewhere in the forums where I can read it?

Here's a copy of the e-mail for those that missed it:

We have discovered two very bad bugs in Hoster 3.110 and possibly 3.108.

First, if you run the Build Songs Database command in the Tools menu, the new Songs.mdb database will have changed all HDCDG, HDBIN, HDMP3G and HDZIP file TYPES to CDCDG, which will then not play. This bug is fixed in Hoster 3.2, which we hope to release this Friday. If you have run the Build Songs Database command in 3.110 or prior, your master KMA file headers have NOT been changed and building the Songs database with version 3.2 will fix the problem. Again this only happens to HDxxx KMA files.

Second, if you have used the Edit Songs command in the Tools menu to edit the header of KMA files (artist or title names, etc.), if you edited any HDxxx file TYPEs, their TYPE has been permanently changed to CDCDG which will not play. You must re-import the faulty songs. There is no way for Hoster to show you which files have a changed TYPE. You will discover them when you try to play, and the Status field shows "ERROR".

If all your KMA files were imported from CDG discs, you have no problems. These errors only happen to files converted from the hard drive to KMA files.

Recommendations:

1. DO NOT USE THE EDIT SONG COMMAND AT ALL until you have Hoster 3.2.

2. If you have run the Build Songs Database command and have files that will not play, wait until Hoster 3.2 releases, download it and rebuild your Songs database again so it will be correct. We expect to release 3.2 Friday August 19, by 5:00PM EST.

We are sorry these bugs were released. We do significant testing at MTU and with a crack team of Beta Testers before any code releases, and these bugs got past all of us.

Thumbs down Promises broken.....no change there then!

Yeh I too received the email warning of bugs. That's a good idea, but once again MTU fail to meet their own deadlines. 19th August was the release date for 3.2 it's 4th Sep now. Yes, I know, Beta testing is a tough business and slippage happens.....but where's the update on the current position? To inform customers of a release date and then allow the tumbleweed to trundle down the street without any further word? I'm really glad MTU do not run an airline.

"Not sure when this will be released, but it is still a few weeks off, at least. The version will be 3.120, not 3.112.

I think you are out of order there Karaoke Queen. Would you rather have an update thats not been thoroughly tested and checked. MTU's Beta testers are all unpaid and do a difficult and thankless job. It's very rare that bugs slip thro and I've been a customer since 2000. Keep up the good work Beta Testers and release the new update when its ready.
