Duel display won't work

I have a new Dell with ATI Redeio x300 duel display card. I cannot get the second display(TV) to show my desk top or hoster lyrics. I have done all the things to do twice and no luck. Restarted with tv on. I ran the trouble shooting wizzard. This computer is set up for media center. Does anybody have any ideas? I am using s-vedio out to rf modulator and then yellow vedio cable to tv. Using latest version of Hoster. System worked fine when using hp computer but new Dell just won't work.
Help please

Re: Duel display won't work

After you have followed all the manufacturers instructions. From inside Hoster on the help menu, click "Hoster manual" Look for "Troubleshooting Guide" and "Dual Display does not appear". Read and see if it will solve your problem.

There is a good bit of information there to help you. I hope it is not that the card not compatible. If you need more technical assistance, I'm sure you will get it. So post back if you still can't solve it.

Re: Duel display won't work

Is this is a seperate card that you installed or is this built into the motherboard? We just tried one that is built into the motheboard, and it has the TV out connector and all, but it will not do Dual Display. It shows Monitor 1 and 2, but it will not allow you to turn them both on at the same time.

This is just what I have run into with the last 2 systems that we have had the ATI built on the motherboard and tried for testing.

Re: Duel display won't work

It was installed and I just received this computer from Dell. Sounds like the same issue. Is there something I am missing? I do have the mediea center version of Windows xp home edition but don't think that would have anything to do with it. I have tried everything that has been suggested and no go.

Re: Duel display won't work

One thought would be to call Dell Support and see if they can help with the Dual Display. They do not need to know the software that you are using, just that you are trying to get Dual Display to work in Extended mode. If you just bought it the call should be free.

Re: Duel display won't work

Hi' mhollyts, try using a coaxial cable from rf mod to coaxial imput on tv. all the rf mod i have, the yellow is an input on rf mod to convert composit video to rf (coaxial) try and see if that works. also is your s-video 4 pin or 7 pin. the reason i ask is 7 pin is s-video and tv out composit, 4 pin is s-video only at least that is how it was told to me i use 7 pin i never could get the 4 pin to work and the techs at nvidea couldnt ethier. Hope this helps, Bob

Dual (TV) Display is same as Laptop HELP!!

My excitement is turning to STRESS !! Thought I was gonna use Hoster this friday, but it's not lookin good. Oh well, One day. I have clicked everything the manual told me to click and I still can't get er done. I'm sure it's me or the video card. Just got the Dell Laptop. I just can't get the Play Screen to come up on the TV without dbl clicking it and then when the song is over, I can double click it again to minimize it. I do have my DeskTop Showing and Hoster shows, just NOT the Play Screen. Here's the video card. XGI Volari XP5

I'm Still Smiling cause I know it's gonna work someday.

HELP!!!!!!!! LOL

Have you tried setting your TV out to extended desktop? Tell us more about your settings.

This question was never answered. I see nothing posted to indicate you are set up in EXTENDED DESKTOP.

Have the tv hooked up and turned on.

Right click on any blank spot on the desktop.

Click properties.

Click settings.

If there are two monitors showing, click on the one that is not highlighted(usually #2).

Click the block next to... extend my windows desktop onto this monitor. Click apply. If that's not there, it may not be a dual DISPLAY(two different screens) card, just offer dual OUTPUT(both the same screen).

The website does indicate dual DISPLAY.

Re: Can't get duel display to work

Just thinking out loud but if you are feeding s-video to an rf modulator doesn't that imply an rf signal is comming out of your modulator (ch 3 or 4)? That means you need a 72 ohm coax to your TV. A yellow cable implies just a shielded cable with an RCA connector. I am using the Radio Shack modulator as my example.

You can totally ignore this post if your modulator also outputs a RCA connector type video signal along with a modulated RF signal.

Again, just thinking out loud.

Re: Can't get duel display to work

You can test your Modulator by hooking up the S-Video from any other device like DVD Players or Sat Receiver. You will get the S-Video like the PC is putting out and you should see the output on the TV if everything is good. That would at least point the finger at the PC and the Video Card or settings.
