Singer Name Display Finally Working

I finally got my SND to work. I had given up on it after trying everything mentioned in various posts. And the problem turned out to be my fault, as usual.

When you activate the SND, a little screen opens on the laptop, with the names of those in your playlist. I was told to drag the box off one side of the screen until it showed up on the TV.

When I tried that, it would stop at the edge of the laptop screen and would go no further. After installing 3.005 I decided to try again. Same thing. Stopped at the edge.

Then I discovered what I was doing wrong. When it stops, you keep holding the mouse button down, and take another bite on the mouse pad, and another sweep toward the edge. Then it goes off the edge. If it does not make it to the TV then, you take another bite and sweep, and low and behold it shows up on the TV. In my case, I went off the left side of the laptop. Others have to go off the right, I think.

I then took the mouse curser, grabbed a corner of the SND and stretched it out until it filled the entire TV screen, covering up the desktop.

When you play a song, it goes away, and when the song is over, it re-appears.

I set mine to display 8 names. If someone does not have a song in, but I want to hold their spot until they bring up a song, I just select the the 101 slot everytime, and put in the singers name like this JOHN (NO SONG SELECTED) When they bring up a song slip I enter that song, drag it up to where it is supposed to me in the rotation, and delete the (no song selected) slot.

If it is a video, I do the same but in the name I'll put JOHN (VIDEO) Just to keep the rotation in order and remind me that John is supposed to sing. I frequently forget to call someone with a Video, because it does not appear on the playlist. I probably will get rid of my video CDGs as I only have a few and they are more trouble then they are worth. I know Hoster will one day import them, but I bet they will take a lot of disc space.

I still use a white dry erase board too, because we have a lot more singers than 8. The SND, while not essential, makes for a very professional looking show. I could show more singers in the SND but it would be too small a type.

Thought I'd post this in case someone else was having the same problem as me.

Re: Singer Name Display Finally Working

While the SND has worked perfectly for me, and is a good feature for most, I have stopped using it.

The problem is that most of the time the singers in the rotation don't bring up their slips until the last minute, and others are using theie personal discs, so these names are not in the playlist, unless I put them in by faking it, as mentioned in the previous post. (I use my JVC Player to play personal CDs rather than import them into the laptop.)

It just turned out to be more trouble then it was worth to me, and harder than just using the dry erase board and the song slips to keep track of the singers.

3.005 and now 3.006 are working perfectly for me.

Keep up the good work, MTU.

Re: Singer Name Display Finally Working

My people all know I run a strict rotation. I do use the SND, but only show 3 singer names. That way if something changes, I can make the change without someone saying...hey I got bumped!
I do not use a dry erase board, but I do keep the playlist so if someone has a rotation question I can show it to them.

Singers name display has disappeared!!

I tried to use the singers display and have now lost it all together. I was able to get the screen to display and entered names then I precided to drag the display off the right side of the laptop it then showed up, but when I would start a song the main singer display screen would show up over the singers list. Now I can't locate the singers display at all. I click on "display singers window" and set it for the desired number of singers it fails to come up. Every since I went of the right side of the laptop I haven't been able to find it again. Does anyone no what could have happened! Even if I shut the system down and restart nothing shows up.

Re: Singers name display has disappeared!!

First, I think you are confusing me and others by "redefining" what we call these windows:

Singers Display (SD) shows the lyrics highlighting while the song plays. This is a resizeable, scalable window that you can adjust in the second display. It disappears when the song finishes.

Singer Names Display (SND) shows the upcoming singers and their songs if enabled. This too is a resizeable, scaleable window that you can adjust in the second display. It REMAINS displayed when the song finishes playing.

You can resize both displays to be visible at the same time, or make the SND larger and hidden behind the SD, appearing between songs... your choice.

When in question... read the manual. It has details including images to do what you want to do.

Re: Singer Name Display Finally Working

I merged another Thread as the last 2 posts above as they are the same Thread topic.

ADMIN, I do appoligize if I was using the wrong terminology but at the time a lot was going on. I did reference the manual but nothing indicates what to do if SND totally disappears! It just suggest what to do when using it.
