3.004 and mp3

I want to know if the new upgrade allows me to import mp3's with an ID number yet. I realize my mp3 I downloaded is in 2 parts .cdg and .mp3 Does the new version aloow me use the .zip to make 1 file and get a disk ID?

No, Hoster 3.005 does NOT support adding a BookID to these files yet.

It is a VERY COMPLEX operation to add a BookID to an MP3+G or ZIP file. We are working on how to do this, but it is not specified yet. We don't want to import these files into KMA format. However, if we don't we must CONTROL the MP3+G or ZIP file so we can add our BookID somewhere, and force EVERY SONG'S ID3 header to conform to what we define. If any other program messed with the ID3 header, it would violate Hoster's encoding and that file would not play in the Playlist.

Either way, we must take control of the MP3+G and ZIP files and NO OTHER program is to modify them ever again.

Re: 3.004 and mp3

Can someone tell me if MP3+G is the same as a file with a .mpg extension (which is what I have all of my karaoke videos recorded as and am currently having to use Windows Media Player to play)? Is this what is now playable within Hoster? Thanks!

No, mpg is as you noted a video format. MP3+G is an mp3 music file that works in conjuntion with a lyrics file using the extension .cdg (totally different animal from the cdg's you use in your karaoke player). They are kind of like a kma except there are two files involved both of which must belocated in the same folder to work. Many programs (and now including hoster) will let you use them zipped together for convenience.

I believe video cd is on the list of features to add though I don't where know it is on that list. MPG's are a rather large files so I don't know if it will be supported, I'm thinking it might be more like a AVI which is compressed alot more.

Hope that helps.
Sam

No, it's not. MP3+G consists of two files with the identical name, but one with .cdg extension and the other with .mp3.

Where did you get your .mpg files?

Re: 3.004 and mp3

Read this thread on BookIDs and adding CDG, BIN, MP3G, ZIP, VCD and DVD tracks to the Songs Database, and thus the Song Book also.

You're welcome.

Re: 3.004 and mp3

In response to Admin - where did I get my mpg files. I recorded them all to my computer from my laser disks, Video CDs and DVDs. I used a hardware solution (very inexpensive) that would import the audio and video into WinDVD Creator where it would record exactly what was on the screen of my karaoke player. I currently play them through WMP, but would really like to be able to play them through Hoster. I currently have a "dummy" song called ***BLANK***, bookid 101, (which is really 1 minute of dead air) that acts as a placeholder so I know that the person's song is a video that I have to play outside the program. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to be able to play these through Hoster! ;-)
