Video Problem at the show last night (Hoster 3.0)

Hoster 3.0 gave me some heartburn last night.

I booted up the PC (XP Service Pack 2) and was getting ready to start the show. We started the first song, and the lyrics were not displaying on the singer's screen, nor the giant projection that we use for the crowd.

So, I rebooted the PC, and I noticed when it was booting up, the boot screen displayed on the other TV's just fine, but as soon as windows desktop showed up on my PC screen, the other TV's stopped displaying.

Then, I booted to my back-up hard drive (XP Service Pack 1 and Hoster 2.219), and everything worked fine.

Anybody have any ideas on why 3.0 with SP2 wouldn't display the graphics to the other TV's, but 2.219 and SP1 worked fine?

I did the Windows troubleshooter for extended desktops, and everything it suggested was already done.

The drivers are the same on both hard drives.

Am I missing a setting somewhere? Is there something that I should have changed for Hoster 3.0?

Thanks in advance for your help.

When I upgraded to sp 2 I had problems with drivers not working. I had to reinstall original drivers for the bad ones. then sp2 worked fine. I suggest reinstall original video driver and try it again.

When you install sp 2 it will not let you roll back the driver ...... tried that. it says no driver to roll back to. you have to reinstall from the original disks. I have seen this more times on this than I care to mention. I do Information Technologies work, and do this all the time.

Re: Video Problem at the show last night (Hoster 3.0)

It's the same driver version as as I was using before.

Does SP2 somehow corrupt the existing driver files, and you just have to reinstall the same ones again?

Would I be better off going to ATI's website and getting the driver file?

The driver file that I have is dated 12/3/03. The same one that the MTU PC shipped with.

I would try Installing the original files first and see how that works, as a test. then get the new ones. you can always then revert back to the original drivers easily.

No matter what it says you have for the driver files I find this works 99.9% of the time. you may be the .1%, But it doesn't hurt to try.
