Scratched CD+G
I have a few CD's that have a popping sound in them upon playback in Hoster. Sure enough, when I look at them they have a scratch in them. The odd thing is, when I play them in Microstudio or in my player, no popping sound. Only when converted to KMA. I have tried different compression and still the same result. I sure am glad that I got Hoster when I did because I never relized how bad my CD's I was beginning to have.

Re: Scratched CD+G
I guess the thing to do would be to backup the scratched original with Microstudio, then import to hoster using that backup copy

Re: Scratched CD+G
I tried that, both the original and the copy play fine in Microstudio and on the player but with Hoster it has pops. I am not complaining, I am just saying that a scratch gets a different sound in KMA vs. ORIG. I am a computer guy and know it is all digital and shouldn't be that way but it is.
Kinda strange. Mark |

Re: Scratched CD+G
You can break down the BIN to Mp3 + CDG (two files).
Play the mp3 in the Windows Media Player and listen for the "POPS." If POPS are present, then you can use a Sound Editor, such as Cooledit, to clean up the anamolies. Once Mp3 is edited, re-combine into Bin and re-import into Hoster. |

Re: Scratched CD+G
They are really small pops, more like a scratched record. I just haven't heard that sound since the old album days. If you are singing, you really don't hear it that much. I just found it strange that when you play the CD you don't hear it only after KMA conversion.

Re: Scratched CD+G
Are you using the Compressor/Limitor or do you have it disabled? It is controlled in the Import Tracks tab "Change Settings" button just above the tracks window.
If you are using it, try increasing the compression to lower the peaks which are caused by the scratch. |
