Arrow Only .kma files?

Does Hoster only play .kma files? Does it not play .cdg files?

Question Did I waste my money?

I bought Hoster yesterday, and....please don't tell me I wasted my money. I currently have the majority of my karaoke songs already on my hard drive, and also on a separate usb drive, in .cdg format. I was under the impression when reading about Hoster that I could play all of my karaoke tracks with the software. However, after I installed it I noticed that it would only let me import tracks by loading the disk. Does that mean that I have to load EVERY SINGLE one of my disks in order to play them?! (that would take forever!) I own all of the software that MTU offers, and I've been happy with all of my purchases. However, if it is true that Hoster doesn't play cdg files...this will have to be the first thumbs down review I've ever give MTU. Previously, I've been using Microstudio to play my cdg tracks at my shows. I can't say I have any complaints, but after I read about Hoster...I was sold. Microstudio plays cdgs just fine. The only thing that I didn't like about using Microstudio to play my karaoke songs is that, whenever a song was playing on one screen I couldn't do anything on the other, otherwise the music would drop out. With all the capabilities of Hoster, why would the software only be allowed to play .kma files? Somebody PLEASE help me out.

Re: CDG Files?

Hoster will play selected tracks from CDG's. The tracks are imported to the playlist as temporary files. If Hoster is interrupted (crashed) during a show, and the tracks have not yet been played, Hoster can be brought up again and the tracks will remain on the play list and playable. Once you exit Hoster the tracks cannot be played, they must be re-imported.

Not currently

We will be adding a way to convert .cdg files as .kma files in a near release. We don't have plans to play .cdg files as they take up a LOT of room versus .kma files.

I guess Admin already answered your question in this post. I wouldn't say you've wasted your money. You can not compare Hoster with MicroStudio when hosting a karaoke show. In my opinion, it's worth the time to import the songs into Hoster's KMA format.

Good luck,

Jon

hmmm

when you say that a way to convert cdgs to kma files is being worked on...does that mean that I would be able to convert the already existing cdgs on my computer to kma files? And if so, would you happen to know when that release might be out? Thanks.

It is scheduled for 2.212

We are expecting to release 2.211 for beta test this week, and commercial release next week.

We will then begin on 2.212. When we release it depends on what else we add in that release with it. It is a complex function to allow you to identify your song names and artist names, and get them imported into the Songs Database.

Please give me 5 example FILENAMES that your .cdg files have. For example, did you name them the Artist name like:

RogersKenny#5.cdg

or

or did you use a seed name (auto-naming) and use the DiscID with the Track# automatically appended, such as:

SC2345-12.cdg

Let me know and I can address this further.

File names

The majority of track are like the example you gave:

SC2345-12.cdg

However, they usually have the artist name and song title as well
For example:

SC2345-12_Chevelle_-_The_Red.cdg

or sometimes flipped around:

SC2345-12_The_Red_-_Chevelle.cdg

And then there are some where I have my own custom made karaoke tracks:

John Doe - song.cdg
