Question Can we remove the Add Track Brand mode?

This is a very important poll for our Hoster 2.210 development and beyond.

With the improvements in our Search dialog box (see attachment from version 2.210), you can find any song by entering a partial string (i.e. any part of a name - start, middle, end doesn't matter). You can select to search on what you enter by Song name, Artist name, or BookID, and it will find all songs that match your string. IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!!

Now, IF... no one is using the Brand mode of adding a track, we will remove it and make the Playlist screen (see attachment) easier to understand and use.

If you ABSOLUTELY MUST have us keep the Brand mode, please make that very clear in your post.

If no one is passionate about keeping Brand, it will be removed.

Also, if you care to tell us what you like or don't like in the proposed Playlist screen layout (see the proposed attachment), we would greatly appreciate your feedback. This is for YOU... tell us how you want it to appear and work!

NOTE: The Forum software has a bug! I can't change the attached "BookID" image to show the BookID button selected versus the Brand button selected.

I like the proposed layout, but i don't see any reason to remove the "brand" tab. while i have't had to use it yet, the database isn't perfect and there are characters on some of the songs that aren't on a keyboard which won't always show up when searching by song.

I updated the attachment as I left the Search dialog box out.

I'm interested in what you say here. Can you tell me what characters are in the database that are not on the keyboard?

Keep in mind that the new Search allows entering any string of characters to search for. It doesn't have to be the whole song or artist name.

For example:

Song Search example entries:

  1. Chapel may find: "Crying in the Chapel" and "Going to the Chapel"

  2. Love may find: "Prisioner of Love", "Love Me Truly", "Love is All I've Got"

  3. Still may find: "Be Still my Heart" and "Still In Love With You"

Artist Search example entries:

  1. Chapel may find: "Chapelton,Donny", "The Chapel Singers"

  2. Love may find: " Love, Buddy", "Lovelace, Barbara", "Ladies so Lovely"

  3. Still may find: "Stills, Jimmy", "Crosby,Stills and Nash"

I not convinced you have a compelling reason for us not to remove the Brand. Please think about the new Search and see if you could do without the Brand mode.

What version of Hoster are you now running?

brand

brand disc
ok we do use it some time

but here is were we use it all the time
when we put in disc or we are ordering disc to buy we
turn on hoster go to brand click on the brand we want to buy
and look to see what we are missing

you don't know how important this is until you don't have it
ok admin
here is my thinking on this
I do not want to lose this
but I would not have a problem in losing it if you
would put in the tools tab
some thing like
view all disc in hoster or just put that whole brand box under tools and disable the enter function to the play list
so we can bring it up to do a running innovatory so we don't buy dupe disc + we use it to see what we are missing this
brand box has a 3 fold function that most people are probable
not aware of

this is all a selling point of hoster
when you can look in hoster to see what disc you have and what you are missing

here is one other point about keeping the brand box
when we are done importing a disc
we click on the brand and play a song to see if it went in right
there are a lot you are losing if you get rid of this box
we all so view to see if the whole disc is there
plus
if you look at the brand and youlook to see what disc you have you can see if you made a mistake in importing
what I mean by that is
sc100
s c101
sc102
scc103
when you are doing this for a long time or a short time things like this can happen
and with the brand box you can see your mistake
and go back and fix it
with out the brand box there is no way to view the way all your disc numbers look like or to see what you have in hoster

I have never used the "Brand Mode" feature, it's space that could be used for other more useful show functions or features. But I do think mikedombroski has an excellent idea, make it a choice in the "Tools" menu. That's where my vote goes.

Thus far, the reasons being given for retaining the "Search For By Brand" function can all be handled by viewing the songs.mdb file using Microsoft Access.

It may not be quite as convienient in some cases, (espceially if you dont happen to have Mocrosoft Access), but it is otherwise do-able.

Perhaps it's need could be further reduced by creating a function in the song-book generator that would list the disks by brand>diskid>track/artist or other criteria?

to bdayton

hoster was ment to be self supporting
you were not to need any other program to run or use hoster
the way it is now you dont need any thing else

but your kinda proposel would mean that a person would need
Microsoft Access and as far as a print fuction goes
you would have to print it out every time you want to view your disc the way it is now
its just a click away
and you save paper, ink, toner, power, most of all convince
i respect your opinion

but i have to disagree on this one

mike

ps just my opinion of corse

Bad charachers are alot of the apostrophies in words like it's, don't, ect. look at the ones in sound choice foundation 2 for example.. they are using a different one that is slanted and is not on a keyboard.. i have found them elsewhere as well.

Poll

Here's my 2 cents...do away with the brand mode. I only keep one version of any song anyway and I use excell in addition to Hoster. Easier to see what I have with excell. Also I have no use for the Duet, Country, Language, or multiplex settings. V-left and V-right could also be removed.

I do like the play and stop button being separate. Would like to hit enter key after entering Book ID number.

Any possible way that songs could be entered starting with 1 instead of 101? I realize the 101 refers to disc 1, track 1, but with songs on the computer you really no longer have a "Disc" or "track". I currently have 7, 057 songs. My song 7,057 correlates to bookid # (Song ID) 34921. Be nice if it was 7057.

I'd like to, but...

I don't use Hoster as I am not a KJ nor do I plan to become one. Votes from me about specific conveniences wouldn't mean a thing.

I will continue testing anything MTU developers send to us. I'll leave the "wish list" to those that use Hoster, professionally.

Regards,

Jon

OK, I found a way to keep Brands...

And, we don't have to spend a fortune making Brands some kind of Tools menu command. Don't get me wrong Mike, its a great idea. However, as a Beta Tester you KNOW we are up to our eyeballs with current requirements, and WMA-Audio file import and playback is behind schedule.

So, attached are the latest and LAST screens for 2.210.

Please note: The Multiplex had to be skewed out of 2.210. It is a VERY COMPLEX function to implement, and requires changing the Playlist database. Since we are changing the KMA header and the Songs Database, it is a VERY BAD idea to change the playlist also. That would be changing "2" things at the same time in several functions. It would be very complex to track down any error with 2 variables at play. We will be working on it for 2.211.

brand

I LOVE the brand listing. I have some songs that are good some are bad. I like to know I have another version to go to if need be! Keeping only 1 version of a song is a good idea but I like know that if I need it I got a different version. I LOVE MTU! I tell eveyone about you guys! Wanna ad spot in my book?

oh I forgot

What is the MUX buttons and the right or left? Multiplex? I think multiplex means the lyrics/music and the vocals can be separated. By clicking right the vocals are gone by clicking left they are there. Is this right? I thought I had a multiplex disk but it has a non vocal and vacl track Im so confused!!!

Brand stays on the Playlist!

It also is far more powerful to use the Search dialog box that shows Brands and ALL songs, not just the first as you now have. Then, you can see the Brand of the song and be able to select that to use, which you can't do now.

However, to make it clear, the above images have been implemented, which include the BookID-Brand buttons and related fields.

DONE! Thank you for your feedback!!!!
