Still New To Hoster
I'm still new to using the hoster program and I'm having problems with random dots appearing on the screen. and on my regular JVC Player it does't exist unless it's dirty or scratched. I've tried to run the disc through the JVC and don't see the dots. Now, I be one to admit I'm not a computer whis but, know enough to be dangerious so, to speak. I've tried several variations such as speed & compression rates but, just can't seem to nail the problem on the head. I recently purchased From MTU the Plextor 52x cd-write/32x cd re-write/52x cd-read cause, I thought the problem was the old drive I Was using . Any suggestions to remidy this problem:

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE LATEST WINDOWS UPDATES, THEN CHECK YOUR DIRECT X DRIVERS AND SEE WHICH VERSION YOU ARE RUNNING. YOU SHOULD BE 9.0B IF NOT DOWNLOAD IT AND INSTALL IT. THIS SHOULD HELP

I am sure your JVC player is more forgiving of a marginal disk than the computer. I have been using microstudio for years in different computers. The plextor drive has helped the graphic garbage problems but my older computers with slower processors, less memory and other programs that interferred with the data transfers always caused problems. I now use pentium 4 computers with a lot of memory and make sure other programs are not running in the background which takes up memory and processing power and my transfers are much better both in microstudio and with hoster. My Dell laptop I use for hoster only runs hoster and the transfers have been very good but once in a while I find a disk that looks perfect but still transfers with garbage in the graphics. The if problem only happens on a few disk after checking the computers properties, live with it. If it happens all the time there is a computer problem. Chartbuster will replace any defective or scratched disk free of charge which I have taken advantage of recently. I will be using hoster for the first time on a job on Friday and I have confidence it will perform well. Hopee everything goes well for you.

What can cause this is that your JVC player is Playing the disc back at 1x. When you import the disc into the computer you are reading alot faster than the 1x speed.
What you can try is go to the Tools Tab (or Tools Menu in 2.124) and select CD/DVD Drives Default. Under this uncheck the Auto Select and then change to the speed to a slower speed such as 10x or something. If you are still having dots with this disc, then slow it to 1x, which it plays at on your JVC player. This should help you.

Clean Your CDROM
I have been reporting problems for a Loooonnnnnggggg time with the Plextor Drive not accessing/reading properly after a few months.
Well, I finally spent $10.00 on a CDROM Disc Cleaner, from Wal-Mart, and now my CDROM is like BRAND-NEW! Syncs in on Blank CDR's immediately...getting superior copies...etc. Evidently, there is a Optical Screen in front of the Laser that gets dirty. This is what the CDROM Cleaning Disc cleans. I don't know why I didn't know this...must have spaced it. Norm |
