Equipment Question
I have someone willing to sell me an older laptop to use instead of taking all of my disks. I have purchased Micro Studio and it works fine on my desktop but really would like to have some on laptop for small family parties. The laptop is a COMPAQ ARMADA 7400 MMX 366mhz, 128RAM, 6.4 gig HD, I believe from website video is 4MB The only want $100 for the laptop but would really like to know if anyone has any experience with this machine playing cdg's. I have a plextor usb cd-rw which works great.
Any help would be appreciated. I am presently using my purchased version of Microstudio just fine but I haven't had much luck with Holster but admit I haven't spent that much time on it. (Doesn't seem to want to recognize my drives and doesn't want to play my cd+g files that I ripped to harddrive with Microstudio. But need more immediate help with the laptop equipment question..... THANKS |

You should be able to find out what the computer requirements for Microstudio are by going to the Karaoke Products section of the Website, select Microstudio, and scroll down to Computer Requirements.
Hoster will not play cdg tracks ripped through Microstudio. They must be imported through Hoster. George |

Thanks..the computer matches except for video memory which says it requires "a Video display card (not an S3 card) with 8MB or more of RAM" I am not sure if it will still work or if the computer which has 4 meg video can be upgraded. I have checked the Compaq site and can't tell.

Takman,
I don't think that the Video on that will work for Microstudio or Hoster. What you can do is try it before you buy it, by downloading the Demo onto it and testing it with your Plextor. If it works, then great if not then its still not a bad price for a cheap Laptop.
