lyrics vs 1st or 2nd screen
Hi,
I've tried the demo hoster to find out that I'm unable to move the lyrics screen to my second display (TV). I'm able to move only the application screen to the second display! I'd like to be able to get the application window on my first display (computer monitor) and the lyrics on my second display (TV out or monitor). This way I could get more than one display with lyrics. I like the karaoke participation in a sports bar with multiple TVs connected!!! |

First question, does your video card support dual displays?
Second question, are you using either Windows XP PRO or Windows 2000, as XP Home doesn't support dual display. If all above is OK and you are still having problems, right click on the desktop, then "Properties" There should be a settings tab under in the display properties window. Click this and see if the dual display is active. (Click the '2' display and see if the box "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor." is checked.) All I can think of at the moment... Flip |

Flip,
Contrary to what some believe, XPHOME DOES support dual display, and has from day 1. I have it and it works fine. I think you're on the right track. It sounds like dbedard has the dual display set up in CLONE mode, and it should be in EXTENDED DESKTOP. George |

Thanks for the correction George, I was just going by MTU's requirements for Hoster, never actually used XP Home. Anyway, now I know.

![]() Hi,
I'm using XP pro with a NVidia GeForce4 MX 400 with 8x AGP. It is set to extend my desktop and presently working with two VGA computer monitors! I'm just unable to send the lyrics screen to my second monitor. The one with the digital connector to be used with VGA connector adapter or TV connection adapter or a digital monitor. My desktop is extended to both monitor but most of my desktop icon are on my primary monitor. Thanks for the help! |

OK, so your dual display card has a 15 pin VGA port and a DVI (digital video interface) port? might have something to do with it...
Digital Monitor...hmm....I think I've read something about digital monitors...lemme see...oh here it is, but it doesn't sound good... seems like someone else using a LCD display was having the same or similar problem... Or course this was with a touchscreen... no real answers there though... Make sure you have the latest version of drivers and DirectX. I'm kinda just grasping at straws here, throwing out ideas, but have you tried switching which is your primary monitor and which is your secondary? Rght click on the desktop, then "Properties" then settings tab. Here you should be able to choose which is your primary display and which is your secondary. (Click the #1 monitor and use the drop down box below it to select the other monitor, then do the same for #2) I guessing but you might have to use the DVI with the VGA adapter as your primary and the standard VGA as your secondary. Of course if you're getting your desktop on your second monitor, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work... this is an intersting one... Of course I suppose there is a possibility that the older version of the demo doesn't support DVI ports? Not sure...George? Admin? MTUSUPPORT? Anyone? I would think dual display is dual display... Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Flip |

Beats me.
As far as I can tell my ATI card is dual display. Monitor and another monitor... Monitor and a tv... but not monitor and a second monitor, and a tv. I took that to mean that a dual display is dual display. That's as far as my limited knowledge takes me on this one. I've had no reason to look beyond dual display. George |

Re: Dual displays details...
Quote:
Note that you MUST connect both displays so your PC can detect the presence of the two connection or you cannot do the following setup. Although you have a different adapter, the driver will be very similar. 1. Make sure you have the latest video driver. 2. Right-click on the desktop and select properties, then settings. You should see two boxes numbered 1 & 2. Next, click the Advanced button, then the NView tab and look for and select "Clone" mode. Ok out to return to the last window and select the box with number 2 inside. Check the check box in the lower left that says "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor". You should be able to see two displays at this point. 3. You need to learn the settings under the Advanced button. In particular, go to Advanced -> GeForce2 Go tab -> Additonal Properties button -> Desktop Utilities -> Desktop Manager Configuration button for controls on how window will span across monitors or operate as two separate displays. dbedard,
You said that your desktop is already extended onto your second monitor correct? So if you take your mouse pointer and move right, off the edge of your primary screen, it will show up on your secondary monitor? If this IS the case than it would seem to me that the dual display, as far as Windows is concerned, is working properly... Just thinking out loud and trying to narrow things down here... Flip |

"Hi, I'm using XP pro with a NVidia GeForce4 MX 400 with 8x AGP. It is set to extend my desktop and presently working with two VGA computer monitors!" I may have misinterpreted what the problem is, but I gathered from the above that the dual display is working and he wants the lyrics to show up on a THIRD monitor George |
