Newbie Questions

In Roy's videos, it shows search by string or word.
In my search for songs or singers, I don't have that option.
Have I missed something in a setting?
I HAVE VERSION 5.40.03

Whenever I start Hoster, I get a little dialog that says
Initializing Book IDs
Is this normal every time?

Thanks!

Re: Newbie Questions

Right click on the search button to reveal all the search features.
You should see a window drop down.

If you don't search by Book id in the main window click the Book Id button and change it to Brand then it won't build the Book id next time you start.

You might see it if you edit any songs though.

Re: Newbie Questions

First of you have to have the tracks marked as multiplex in the database.
If you imported them without identifying them as such then you would have to edit them from the edit dialog under the multiples tab before you could filter them out in the search dialog.

Once you have marked them as Multiplex in the database you can search for that type by selecting Mux in the search dialog together with either Artist or Title or both.

For this to work correct you need to get the selection of vocal left or right correct, so do a test first.

Re: Newbie Questions

Except they are not multiplex. Some of the cds that I have ripped had karaoke for the first 6 tracks then the next are the same songs with "learning" vocals.

Re: Newbie Questions

Well if you play one and you can hear the lead vocal have you tried hitting the vocal no vocal button to see if it cuts the lead vocal only I have a number of these that has always been the case, the vocal was still only on the right track.
In which case they still act as multiplex.

If yours aren't and the lead vocal is a mix of left and right then I can only make a suggestion. and that is you include (with vocal) in the song title.
Then when you search you will see which are which or if you only wanted to show the vocal version you could include that in your search string.

Personally whenever I had any of these I skipped the importing of the vocal version.
