importing karaoke

I am trying to import some karoke from some karaoke cd's. when i open the karoke cd all i see is the music file. the cdg file can not be seen...

What type of Karaoke CD is this ? A CDG which is the original standard for playing in Karaoke machines only has a single file for each song title which has the extension .cda.
Or are they the MP3+G type that have two files, an .mp3 and a .cdg or are they video types ?

Have you imported any before ?

it was an original karaoke cd that a client purchesed in wallgreens. I tried to import it onto hoster but could not. I copied the disc and the file type says audio cd track.

If the file type say's Audio CD as you state in your reply, are you sure its not just an audio CD and not a karaoke CD ?
Both Audio only and Karaoke Cd's list files in explorer with a cda extension only.
Have you imported CD+G disc's before OK ?
Are you using Hoster or some other software when you try to import these tracks ?
If you are using Hoster, are you importing this via the import Singers disc option or the Import CD tracks option or some other way ?

If you copied the track from the CD into a file on your computer, I don't think you can do that.
I think you can only import a CD by fiscally loading a CD in the drive and copying it, not by copying the cda file as a cda file is not a hard drive format, to do that you would first have to burn the cda file to a CD then import it by loading the CD in the drive to import it.

it was a karaoke cd..I think it was partytyme ..I have imported karaoke cd's but it has been quit a while since i did it..I have been using mostly downloaded files..I am using hoster and tried to import from menu "import song-import cd tracks" I dont thik My version of hoster has import singer disc. I only copied the disc because I was having trouble importing it...when I put the disc in my coputer and opened the files I could only see one file per song...I dont know why that was

As I stated in the earlier post, a Karaoke CD only has 1 file per song, it contains both the lyric and audio in that one file.

You can't to the best of my knowledge copy that cda track to your hard drive and import it that way. You have to rip the cda file from the disk into another format like kma, mp3+G or zip which is what Hoster does before it imports it.
Now if it has been a long time since you imported CD perhaps your drive isn't capable of reading CD+G or perhaps it needs the lens cleaning or you don't have it selected right in your cd setup.
Not knowing which version of Hoster you have I can't tell you exactly how to find the settings but from the Tools menu on the top see if you have a CD/DVD drives appear and select that, a dialog should appear for you to select a drive for reading and to test that drive before saving.
Then I suggest you read the manual on importing CD tracks.
I should also point out that it is illegal to make a permanent copy of a disc unless you own the disk, that is why there is an import singers disc option for that case which only stores that track for that session.

The tracks on a CD will not have two files like your downloaded files. It is a single file and the only way to import it would be directly from the CD.
What version of Hoster are you using?

Trying to import 10,000 songs via KMH / MP3.

Using batch method but single works same way. Songs are taking 12 seconds each. In last 14 hours has only imported 7000 songs.
Using version 5.05
Nothing on my computer has changed except I upgradedto this version.
Watching the CPU monitor it keeps going up and down to about 40% CPU usage.

Seems a long time, I would exspect about 1.5 sec per track for Kmh, are you sure you have not selected Kma as the type.

Are these mp3 audio you are importing or mp3+g only in your previous enquiry in another thread you asked Quote: "I just purchased a large amount of songs in .zip format"?

I tried unstalling and reinstalling previsions and I could not even get Hoster to run. Went back to 5.05 they are still importing at 12 seconds apart.
Also my Microstudio and Sonverter stopped working it says my serial number does not match my registration number and to reinstall these programs.

I just used both of them last night.

Tryied doing a system restore back to two days ago and that did not work either. I don't know if my computer is corrupted or not. I hate to reformat my computer without knowing if Hoster 5.05 is still going to import these songs slowly.

I have all my songs in one single folder only and there are several thousand so I don't know if that is a problem too.

My files are all named in this format:
cb13401-0 0 Adele - Daydreamer.cdg (cdg file)
cb13401-0 0 Adele - Daydreamer (mpeg Layer 3 Audio file)

cbc00674-0 - Wynette, Tammy - Till I Can Make It On My Own.cdg

every song has it's own disc id number and every song has the track listed as zero. They came from Chartbuster this way. These are all digital songs.

I noticed that the actual import itself is almost instant It is the deleting of the file from the list then going to the next song to import that is taking so long. It is now 36 hours into importing and they are importing every 23 seconds.

I changed them to ignore ignore artist title and the last 500 imported rather quickly.

(When I was talking about the songs disappearing, what I meant was as the songs are listed in the import window once they import they are no longer view in the import window)

Looks like the problem is how the track number is set up in all these files.

Well guess what. After importing all my songs, I went into the program and all the songs were missing!! I check the file where they were and yes they are all still there along with the KHM file.

Soooo...

I started to re-import them all again doing it the exact same way I started 48 hours ago when they were inmporting at about one song per every 12 seconds.

I have them set up as DiscID track artist title even though the actual songs are listed as title then artist. I am doing a batch import, the title and artist appear to be showing up in the correct order AND they are importing at the rate of 1 per second!!!

I don't get it? I will wait and see what happens after they all import, see if they actually show up. If this does not work but I am expecting it too and I wanted to start completely from scratch what is the proper procedure.

I'm answering this without any previous knowledge of importing these type of files, but would think you would follow one of these two ideas:
1st idea try choose the Import songs Tab/Index HD Files/ choose kma for As, MP3G for Karaoke then brows to your cd drive then see if the files appear in the list. If they do select them as normal and import.
2nd Idea if that is no good.
If no luck that way then you will have to copy the mp3+g files Presuming that is the type, (Which would be an mp3 file and a cdg file with the same file name) to a folder on your hard drive then import them that way from the Index HD files Button.
Then I would choose KMH for As and MP3G for karaoke presuming they are in MP3+G format.
The rest of importing is in the manuel Follow index hard drive instructions or follow the instructions that appear as you proceed.

If they are as you say "MP3+G" format songs, this is a CDROM. Load it in your CD/DVD drive, go to Explorer or My Computer and copy the files to a folder on your hard drive. I'd suggest you use one folder for the Emerald set.

As Roy pointed out you need to check for "Read Only" status on all files imported from a CDROM. Click on the folder holding them, right click, select Properties and uncheck Read Only.

Then, using the "Build Database" dialog, click the Add Folder button (I think that is the right name - not at Hoster to look), find that folder, and click the OK/Save/whatever button to add the folder into the "Indexed Folders" list.

I believe that as soon as you do this with "MP3=G" file type selected, the songs will start indexing into the Songs Database automatically.

I just tested my 1st idea of post #36, importing from a CD containing mp3+g files as .kma files without first copying them to the hard drive. I burnt a number of mp3+g files to a CD disc, the disc was burnt as a CD so it was not able to be written too after burning. This does cause an error message when importing that it can't write back to the disc with the imported text file, this will not be a problem if the disc is able to be written too but I expect the gem disc would be read only and not be able to be written too. However they do import as kma files and play as expected. But I think it still best to copy all to a file's first to a folder on your hard drive. Then I prefer to import through the import HD files dialog as kmh types rather than the Add folder way, it does take longer but you have more control over the naming order. Perhaps if the mp3 files contains the ID3 Tags data then the Add folder way will be quicker.
I would do a test run first with just a few tracks.
