Importing mp3+g files
I have just upgraded to 5.1 and all works fine. I am wanting to import some new mp3+g files but am finding the new system very confusing. Previously I just clicked on Import files, selected mp3+g and off I went.
What do I do now? Do I have to build database now every time I want to import new songs? ![]() Would love some help. Thanks. |

Re: Importing mp3+g files
Basically copied this from another post for importing ZIP files and just changed Zip for MP3+G.
Original post: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=12594 Post # 3 There are 2 ways to import MP3+G files, the 2nd way is much the same as previouse versions but is just the advanced method. Method #1: Uses ZIP/MP3 or WMA header contents to get field data IF... your headers contain data, this is the best way to index them in the Songs Database. If the headers are empty, use Method #2. 1. Click the "Import Songs" menu bar command to see the "Songs Database" dialog. 2. Click the "Build Dtabase" button. 3. Click the "MP3+G" button. 4. Click the "Add Folder" button if you only want to only add songs from this ONE folder, or click the "Add Folders/Sub-folders" button if you want to add songs from this folder and all its sub-folders. 5. In the "Choose folder" dialog, select the folder to index the MP3+G files into the Songs Database, and click the OK button. 6. Each found MP3+G file in the folder (and sub-folders if that button was clicked), is opened, the MP3 header read for Title, Artist, Brand, DiscID, Track# and if found, they are used in the KMH file and indexed Songs Database record for each song. If not found, the entire MP3+G filename is added into the Title field and all others are set to "Unknown". 7. A KMH file is created and stored in the same folder as the found MP3+G file(s). Method #2: Uses Filename contents to get field data 1. Click the "Import Songs" menu bar command to see the "Songs Database" dialog. 2. Click the "Index HD Files" button. 3. In the dialog that appears, choose "KMH" or "KMA" based on your preferences. KMH quickly indexes each MP3+G file, while KMA imports the lyrics and audio, converting the audio to WMA compression format. 4. Click the "MP3+G" button and a dialog appears, allowing you to select a folder with your MP3+G files to index. 5. Click the "Select" button. 6. You will see the MP3+G songs in the "File List Window. Click one and it will appear in the field next to "fields and separators". Follow the directions on the left. If your Disc ID is in the filename it should automatically enter this else you can assign it one or let Hoster create it's own. 7. Click the "Single" button, then click the "Add Files" button. 8. Check that the names are displaying correctly in the "Track List Window" below. Edit them if now by clicking the Title or Artist fields. A list of names from Hoster's Import Database appears for you to find the correct one for each song, or type the new name in following the list entries visible while you type. 9. Click the checkbox "Select All" and click the "Index Files" to start indexing. 10. Once all the files with the same DiscID are indexed, they will disappear in the "File List Window" so you can select another filename as your "template". If the fields within the filename match the "Define Field Order" fields, all you need to do is click the "Add Files" button, and follow the instructions on the left. __________________

Just a small correction Roy. Doesn't effect your method but is incorrect information.
