Question Need help w/ speedup of highlighting of word

Hi:

I would like to know how support or other users would suggest to force kPro to speedup the completion of highlighting a word. For example, I press spacebar on "sunset". But the word is not to be drawn out. And there are several (or more) seconds before the next word needs to be highlighted. It makes it look like the word is to be drawn out.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

I have a pet way of handling this that I like for more than one reason. When typing the lyrics, anyplace there is going to be a pause of some length, say after "sunset" I'll use the "SHIFT 6" to indicate a new page, then on the next line I'll type the word "PAUSE" or for real lengthy instrumental breaks I'll type "INSTRUMENTAL", preceeded and followed by the left and right arrows on the keyboard to indicate not lyrics. Using "SHIFT 6" assures that the "PAUSE or INSTRUMENTAL" will be at the top of the following lyrics.

After tapping "SUNSET' tap the "PAUSE" or "INSTRUMENTAL" and let the slow sweeping occur there. The thing I like about this method above all others is that it gives the singer a visual countdown that clues him/her in when to start singing again, especially at a private Karaoke Party where singers haven't learned the arrangement too well.

Hope this at least gives you and idea.

take care

George

Question

Hi George:

Thanks for the reply, although I'm not sure if we are on the "same page" (pun intended). I interpreted your response as how to visually indicate to the user that there is a pause in the singing and I am looking how to "end" a word sooner rather than later. Did I misunderstand your response?

In writing this response, I went back and put in a 'space-bar' and a 'em-space' after the word I want to end before the beginning of the next. I found that this does work - both allowing me to indicate to KPro to "end" the current word (and thereby moving on to the next word) and it is non-visual on the playback. However, since the em-space does not appear in the lyrics window the only visual que that there is something there is the underscore stops at that point (when placing the lyrics).

If there is no alternative to what I just found, perhaps this is would be suggestion to MTU to add a new 'control' character that would visually appear in an editor (and KPro) but basically serves no purpose except to allow the user to 'end' the current word before the beginning of the next.

Thanks,
Mark

If you press Ctrl button this end the sweep of that word that you are on.

From the manual

Pause Sweep - Click this button or tap the Ctrl key to stop sweeping a word where the singer stops for only music to play.

After you place the last word in the song, tap the Ctrl key at the correct time to end its highlighting.

Thanks Brian, I completely forgot about the CTRL key, as I never use it, preferring the visual "countdown" method I described, and I simply tap end key to end.

I'll go wipe the egg off my face

Take care,

George

Another thing I do ise use a line dashes (--------) for gaps of more than 6 seconds in between singing.

I use the Chantilly font which gives an unbroken line instead of a broken line as shown above. This works wonders. I know more fonts also show an unbroken line. Try playing around with fonts till you get one you want to work with.
