Importing from ZIP & mp3+g files
I downloaded the Video Hoster® 4.32 Demo to try to import a few of my files. Please, will someone give me a procedure to import my file.
1. Importing mp3+g files: I have 6000 files in a single directory named 00001.mp3-06000.mp3 and 00001.cdg- 06000.cdg. Each of these files have the ID3 tags fully defined including Album ( is DiskID), track, title, artist, genre, & date. How can I import these files so it stores the ID3 tag information into Video Hoster database? Of course it cannot get the DiskID, Track, Artist, Title from these filenames but can get it from the IDE tags. 2. Importing ZIP files (each zip has a .mp3 & .cdg file): I have a number of these ZIP file with the filename format "DiskID-Track - Artist - Title". I selected "Import Hard Drive Files" menu & select type ZIP but I could not import a single ZIP file. I was well under the limit of 20 files required by the DEMO version. THE 4.32 DEMO DID NOT WORK FOR ME. Please Help? Thanks, Steve |

2. What happened when you tried to import them? Did you get an error message? I see you have been a member of the forum since 2002. What MTU programs have you used before?

Re: Importing from ZIP & mp3+g files
I am not sure if this program will be of use to you as I have not used it myself but is an automatic file re namer. It's called Tune Up ID3 renamer 4.0.11.
I believe you can rename files from their id3 tags. It is available from here:http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multime...-renamer.shtml When the file name has the title and artist displayed at least you can see at a glance what the file is. After thinking more about this it probable only works on the MP3 file not on the .cdg part. ![]()

Roy, This is a good idea and I think there are programs that handle both mp3 & cdg file renaming. Too bad Hoster doesn't handle ID3 tags. All my files have worked perfectly with ID3 tags with WinAmp karaoke. Dale, I have followed MTU since the beginning of Hoster in the 90's. I have successfully used WinAmp flawlessly but I am now considering purchasing Video Hoster. Why? 1. MTU has done an excellent job of improving the Hoster software with each new release. The latest version has features I would like to have. 2. It appears that Hoster importer can handle my ZIP files and can handle several filename styles and can customize to match my filenames . The ZIP files I have vary with several different filename styles. I could not import my ZIP file using the following procedure: -> Select menu "Import Songs" -> "Import Hard Drive Files" -> Select type ZIP (this means it will create a KMH file?) -> Select file "AH8018-03 - Diamond, Neil - Cracklin' Rosie.zip" -> select advanced button -> select "DiskID-Track - Artist - Title" (which matched the above song) -> Uncheck "Hide Imported Tracks" -> Select brand as "All Hits" -> Select "Single" (not batch) -> Hit "Add Files" button (this puts the file in the box below) -> Check the box to the left of the filename and the status says READY -> Hit "Import Files" button (a popup says "This DEMO version only supports a 20-song database. Hit OK. At this point I expect the KMH file to appear in the directory of the source or somewhere. What am I doing wrong? Last edited by SteveWalker; November 27th, 2010 at 08:09 AM. |

Re: Importing from ZIP & mp3+g files
Have you already got some songs in the Database ?
If so then that is why it won't import anymore. I believe this means 20 in total not just this import. And yes, a kmh header file will appear in the same folder as the source file.

Does Video Hoster® 4.32 Demo INSTALLATION put any files in the database? How do I view how many songs are in the database? How do I clear all songs in the database? Thanks. |

Yes, in the current 4.32 demo a ZIP file would import/index as a KMH file. In 5.00, which we are now working on, you can select to import as a KMA or KMH as many of our existing users want to have ALL imported files as KMA. That's already implemented in 5.00 Beta. We do have it in our spec to open the ID3 header and use the fields to fill in the Songs Database fields. We would not rename your filenames, but just use the header contents in the database. If you select KMA for the type to create, we would use the field contents to write the .kma filename. Currently, I can't say when the ID3 code would be added. We have it, but it's a lower priority than new "bells and whistles" we are actively adding, such as Tempo, live lyrics Sync adjust while playing the song, setting Transparent background on CDG songs so a graphic or video can play in the background, play direct from Singers Discs (we now import to a temp file then auto-delete after playing), add Find & Replace in Edit Songs dialog, we already have new dialogs for Search and Singers but we'll make them "dockable" with the Hoster screen, Show Rotation mode (we now have Playlist mode), and more. Steve, we'll look forward to finally having you as a customer. ![]() |

Re: Importing from ZIP & mp3+g files
Admin,
Thanks for the information. I will wait for the ID3 tag support because I have many man-hours setting these tags. I did have 20 songs in the database. I deleted the files, and was then successful importing the "AH8018-03 - Diamond, Neil - Cracklin' Rosie.zip". I tryed to play this song and got this error message FROM THE SEARCH * SCREEN AND HIT PLAY BUTTON: "Bad Zip File! c:\users\stevew~1\AppData\Local\Temp\Out.zzz" Please let me now what the problem is now. ![]() FYI I have Windows 7 64-bit running on a Dell Studio 17 with 8GB of RAM. I GOT IT WORKING FROM THE MAIN SCREEN WHERE YOU HAVE THE SINGERS COLUMN AND HIT THE PLAY BUTTON. Last edited by SteveWalker; November 27th, 2010 at 05:45 PM. |
