10 second delay when I hit play

Version 4.20
XP SP3
All updates

When I hit the play button I have to wait about 10 seconds before there is a response from Hoster.
I have already set the audio controls all to a zero setting.
I have tried with and without the remove silence option.

When I click on play and then click on it again again a few times a (not responding) appears. The hour-glass appears and I can't do anything to Hoster during this. The Stop is greyed out during this until the music starts.

it happens with my CDCDG, HDMP3G, HDZIP files as well as Audio files.

When in auto mode, there is no problem, during a skip or at the end of a song.

Is there a registry fix for this or something?

Please

Stef

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play

Have you got Roxio version 6 or earlier on this same computer ? I had issues of this nature in earlier Hoster versions until I Un-installed Roxio.

Roxio V6 and earlier has known conflicts with Hoster.

Other than that try running Hoster with your spy ware shut down if you are not on-line at the time to see if there is a conflicts there.

Roy.

No Roxio, but I'll look deeper for some other conflicts.

Cheers

Look at you C: drive and see how much free space. If less than 25% that is bad and will slow things down. Also defragment drive.
I would suggest a system clean-up program too to clean up Windows and get it running faster.

Hi Dale,

42% Free Space. and a defrag has made no difference. Done the registry clean and stuff.

It takes about 20 seconds for Hoster to load too.

Re: 10 second delay when I hit play

try pressing alt.cont.delete and see if you have anything running in the background, is the 10 sec. delay before the song starts ,and also does this happen on all the songs, or just random..sometimes there are songs that will take some time before you'll hear the tunes and before the graphics shows up..i get that problem on certain songs..10 sec. is not really that long, i usually click play before i call the next singer in,and hit pause when the credits dis-appear on the screen, i know it's not a solution to the problem, but it's probably the only way for now to get your show going...

Version 4 does take a little longer to load than previous versions because of the added functions.
However, what did you use for registry cleanup? I use a program called System Mecahnic. It does a great job of stripping out garbage from the registry without chancing a mistake that stops programs from working. It will also defragment the registry, remove hidden temporary files and a whole lot more. First time I used it I was amazed how much faster my 5 year old XP computer ran.
Are you song files on an internal or external drive?
Billyo is right you need to see what other background processes are running and see if anything is hogging the processor time.
