Problem with MS Access

I Reformatted my computer. When I installed Office 2003,everything opened except Access, so I then installed Office 2007 and everything opened, including Access. I had Office 2003 on originally before the reformatting and all worked?? When I open Songbook and choose what to open, a page comes up and says...Unrecognized database format. I have no idea what to do or where to go from here. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably best to wait for Dale to answer this but just to be clear the file you should be looking for to open in Access is Songs.mdb. If you are trying to open Songbook.rtf that has to be opened in Microsoft Word.

I installed Hoster and did a rebuild. When I checked Hoster in programs... Songs mdb is not there????????

Songs.mdb is located in C:\MTU\Hoster not under the program files area. This is thanks to Vista and Windows 7.

Sorry, I didn't realize I had written PROGRAM instead of MTU. In MTU Songs mdb is not there. I'm still using XP. I'll try a reinstall tomorrow morning. Should I choose everything in custom install?

Look for Songs. Since you re-installed XP then everything was set back to default which means you will not see the extensions unless you set it to show them again.

Install all the items for Access except the "Samples" unless you want them too.
As to the other parts look through the items and see if there is any thing you want. Then after you have re-installed it go to Microsoft Updates and get any security updates for Office 2007 2003 which ever you are installing.

The .mbd file is usually in C:\ MTU\ Hoster and can't be changed.

I uninstalled Office and then did a FULL reinstall. I then went to Hoster and opened Songbook and then choose what to display. When I hit enter, a page came up and displayed this.... Unrecognized Database Format 'C:\MTU\Hoster\SongBook.rtf'. In MTU\Hoster, I do have Songs but no Songs.mdb, also Bucket just says Bucket. Don't know where to go from here!?!? I could sure use your help.

If you cant find Songs.mdb just open the file named Songs. To view the file extension you will have to reset the view option in folders. From the control panel select "Folders" from the window that opens choose the view Tab, scroll down and untick box "Hide extensions for known file types" Then scroll down further and tick box "Remember each folders View Settings" Then OK.
Now open C:\MTU\Hoster Folder and you should now see the .mdb extensions.

I have also seen that problem occasionally with Access in Office 2003, but it has been quite a while. Upgrading to 2007 fixed it obviously because I haven't seen this since upgrading.
When you open Songbook in what? Access 2007? If you did the standard install of Office 2007, I think you need to go back and install it again but use the Custom install to add the rest of the Access items. Whatever you do do not change or save anything in the Songs.mdb file with Access as it will save it in the wrong (newer) format.
