Song.mpd error

I have had a look through the forums but so far I haven't come across a similar issue that I had. Just b4 a gig this week I was importing a new disc into hoster when the laptop shutdown. I reopened it but it came up with a error message saying that it couldn't read a file in C:\Documents and settings... databases\songs.mdb. I tried to search for a song but it came up with the same msg. I am not really that computer savy so it took me about 30mins but I worked out that Hoster has a backup 'songs.mdb' so I renamed the 'songs.mdb' 'oldsongs.mdb' & changed the backup file to 'songs.mdb'. This worked perfectly.

When I got home I started the laptop so that I could change the files back to check the error message in this forum but it appears to have reset itself to 'songs.mdp' & 'songs_backup.mdb' & there is no error message.

Can anybody tell me what happened & is what I did the best way to fix the problem. My issue is, I hire staff sometimes to run my gigs & they are less savy than me so if this happens to them they will probably just shut down & go home.

There is no such thing as an MDP file in Access which is what Hoster uses for the database.
What version of Hoster are you using?
Are you using XP or Vista?
The database files are now stored in C:\MTU\Hoster and not in the Documents and Settings area. This was moved because Vista causes problems with changable files stored in the Program Files and in the Documents and Settings areas.

I am still running 3.32. I haven't upgraded past that yet as I had major problems with Hoster with 'local\temp\auout.zzz' when I upgraded to 3.317 last year. I decided at that stage not to try to fix it unless it was broken & I have not had any problems until now.

I am running Windows XP.

Those problems have long been fixed and a lot of new features added since 3.312. Hoster is now up to version 4.08.
As I said there are no Access files with an extension of MDP. This could be a virus causing that, so I would check for one.
I do know that if there isn't a Backup file that Hoster will recreate which is why that file showed up again.

Thanks Dale. I guess it's time to finally upgrade my Hoster. As I said, I didn't want to fix what wasn't broken & this is the first problem I have had since 3.317.

B4 I do that though I noticed from the forums that I will need a min of 2gig ram for 4.08. I have been running off just 800mg without any problems.

The 2 GB of Ram is for Vista. For XP it will run with less but it is recommend you have 1.5GB. This is Ram and what you quoted I believe was the Processor speed.
If you right click on My Computer, go to properties, look at the bottom of that page of information it will tell you what your processor speed is and how much RAM you have.
