4.06 Lyrics still out of sync.
I just upgraded to version 4.06 from 4.05 and I still get lyrics out of sync with Vista. Did all the steps required before installing and still. Oh and after installing I get this message "Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Hoster. The Windows installer cannot continue." I uninstalled hoster a couple times and still got that message when installing. I clicked ok and hoster installed.
Hoster 3.4 does work perfectly I must say do i'm sticking to it. I do miss the new features though. I'll wait patiently until all the problems are worked out. Has anybody had these problems on Vista home premium? I have all the latest Vista updates by the way. |

The other issue is lyrics sync. Please do not think I am trying to be offensive here but... If you have done all of the changes to Vista that are listed on the linked page during the install, you are the only person who still has this problem. Please go back and verify all the changes. You may have missed something or something may have accidentally been changed by you or one of your DJs. If you are still having problems, post back here with your computer specs and any other programs that may be running in the background. |

Hoster 3.4 works perfect!
I don't understand why 4.06 still has sync issues and 3.4 works perfect on my laptop. Has to be the latest version. Don't you think?

I have found that with enough horse power (dual 256mb video cards, super fast processor, and 3gb ram) I was able to run Vista without the tweaks as long as ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was running in the background. I believe it is a memory management problem with Vista and can not be "fixed" by MTU. Microsoft has decided that we can not be trusted to run our own systems and they needed to step in. This is how we got Vista. Every idiot who openes attachments in email has to be protected. I think they should just come out with a version for my grandmother and leave the rest of us alone ![]() |

Version 4.06 has been nearly completely rewritten with all new code for a new player, Singer's Database, modified the header to add some new fields, new marquee, new Singer's Name Display, and a lot of changes you don't see. As Marklwood said all the major bugs have been worked out of this version either by them changing the code in Hoster or by figuring out what has to be done in Vista and XP to make it work right. If you skipped one of the steps or didn't change it exactly the way they listed, then you are going to have problems. With laptops one of the biggest contributors to the sync problem is not enough dedicated memory to video and/or not enough memory for the system.

Hey Rick,
What kind of file was it that did not play? Are you using the old video player or the new one? Do you see the Hoster Logo Video everytime you open Hoster? MTU added the Logo Video so the video settings in Hoster were correct before we started playing any files. If you opened Hoster and did not see the Logo Video before Hoster was ready to use, the "sync settings" for Hoster may not have been set so to speak, a computer glitch. When you restarted Hoster, it fixed it. I've tested well over 50 versions of Hoster 4. Every once in a while with some beta's, what you decribe here happened BUT once I restarted Hoster, it never happened again (on XP). You should only see this once. It's like Hoster (4.06) needs to adjust for the system it's installed on. Once this is done it runs rock solid. If you are not using the old player, give it a go and see it the problem disappears. Have you gotten this to work or are you still having problems? Seems like your thread has been overrun by others.

Help me too, please!
I just upgraded to 4.06 from 4.05. I'm running Hoster on the same computer with XP MCE that I have been since 3.x.
I now have audio offset problems on ALL of my songs. The words are behind the music for all songs, but now the audio offset feature is gone. My audio driver is up to date, a very recent version. Please help! |

If you have read the rest of this thread you will notice that those who are having this sync problem now are finding out that their video card does not have enough memory. Recommended amount is 128 MB (256 would be even better.
How much video memory is on your computer? Have you done all the Custom updates from Microsoft? Have you tried all the suggestions in this thread, such as changing to 16 bit color from 32 bit?

If you look at the post date, you will see that this is over a month old. To my knowledge that was the first post about lyrics sync with 4.06. We have since had others who have had this problem. Most have been centered around video card issues. The others have been background programs running. I will go now to your post about lyrics sync to review it and see if I have any suggestions or ideas.

It's definitely NOT a graphics card problem. I bought a brand new ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT with 512 Mb of DDR3 RAM and I'm still having the same problem. The box is significantly better than minimum specs. It's Athlon 64 3400+ at 2.39 GHz and has 1 Gb, running XP MCE SP3. This problem is very annoying and disruptive. I'm at my wits' end.

Part of your problem could be Windows hitting the swap file too often. I would recommend at least 2 Gb of memory, 3 if you can swing it. Also, how much free space on your C: drive? I would recommend keeping 50% free. Without knowing your particular setup this would be my first place to start. The next would be background programs, then services.

Have you tried all the suggestions in this Thread, as well as the recommendations in the Manual? There are many variables, including how many & what type of programs you are running in the background. There are also Options in the Tools Menu to make changes to Hoster according to your particular needs.
