Smile Hoster 4.01 running fine...do I change?

Hi guys (and gals!),
Hoster lite 4.01 running finer than frog hair (which is pretty fine) for me. (About 15-20 hours of home play) I have even toggled back over to 3.4 and runs equally well.

I am updated on all software and run with 4 GB RAM, XP PRO, SP3, IE 7 and Windows Media Player 11 (yes I have opened it, Jim ).

Only had a couple songs that I came across that needed to be re-imported (off of CDGs)...no problems now with those.

So I have this party for the niece on Friday night (wedding rehearsal after-party) and plan to use 4.01 (with 3.4 to backup) at a local bar that has given us full use of the upstairs. I will not use 3.4 unless I absolutely have to...as the 4.01 rocks; the intermission photos I can show of the niece and groom to be; the rotating song wait times, titles, etc, the insta buttons (which are a hoot...if used properly!) and I like the interface so much better. I don't use DJ software ...YET!

I feel for the people that are having problems....I hope they stay with it long enough to enjoy the 4.x software; in my limited time using MTU software (3 months) they have responded to every concern. The help here on the forum is a benfit too. I think that MTU will come to a solution with the Vista OS, but even my IT guys think it is crap. Shows how much the MTU guys really care about getting Hoster running on ALL platforms where possible. I do, however, understand the urgency of show hosts that cannot get it running.........

Now my next decision: After this party I have 2 more venues on 2 consecutive weekends (block party then labor day shindig at our place). When do I upgrade to 4.02 (or even 4.03?). Not a big deal for me to wait until later as I am not a paid professional (dinner for the family and a 12-pk Heineken usually suffices! )

Peace and good Karaoke. Remember.... "There are no BAD Karaoke singers; there are, however, BAD Karaoke listeners"..... I tell that to everybody to break the ice and they get up and have a lot of fun.

I've opened WMP11 on my show machine and it works fine as well. Not opening WMP11 is a tip for folks who may have slower processors.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I have to agree with you on the new features that Hoster 4 offers, it's a blast to run! After the 4.03 release, everybody willl be able to enjoy 4.0 as much as us.

You'll be fine to wait.

Jim

Smile

Thanks Jim,

We will have fun, that is for certain. I am sure I would thoroughly enjoy one of your shows as well.

Thanks for all of your help (you too DALE !). I think I have found most answers to my small issues on the forum, and 90% are answers from you and Dale .....with occasional "one-line wonders" from Bevis and several others....oh, and the MTU tech help on 2 occasions.

I will wait and keep rockin' with 4.01

Keep up the good work!

Hey, 4.02 is the not yet MTU's "professional answer". For some folks it will be better, but overall it still uses Windows technologies that are giving us severe heartburn. We did not send out upgrade emails as we don't want current users to upgrade, unless you want to. 4.02 is the current ship version for new customers.

We are confident that changes we are making today/tomorrow for 4.03 will be a better answer, and maybe the "professional answer".

4.03 is expected to release sometime next week. There are always "other" gremlins and/or small features that we work into each release that must also be tested.
