.lst files
I've been saving my CD's as 1.lst, 2.lst and so on. I went to "Write Disc." and clicked, then hit "Open". Then clicked 1.lst and it is blank. In fact all of the .lst files are. I was under the impression that the lists were there to write those CD's at a later time... Did I miss something?

Re: .lst files
The .lst files are just a pointer to where the (Imported) copied files were stored on your computer. If you moved the original files or folder, renamed it or deleted them then the .lst files can't find the original files.
For instance if you saved them to your C/ drive then later moved them to your external usb drive the .lst file is not aware of this so will return a blank list. When you import a CD for copying, do you always import them to the same folder ? If you always import to the same folder then brows to that folder using Windows Explorer and check the files are listed there. I recollect you asking in a previous thread about moving your files to an external, that is why I reckon you have this problem now.

Re: .lst files
I seem to remember seeing them in the .ist files before I moved the songs to my G drive. Hum, sucks. It wouldn't be so bad if the manual adding of songs in the write mode, did't kick your back to the top of the screen after each addition. Is there a quicker way to copy those CD's now?... What good are the isd. files now to me. Seems this should be changed in the future...

Re: .lst files
I don't quite understand what you mean in your above statement.

Re: .lst files
Are these lst files that you saved random songs to make up a your own compilations or are they direct copies of manufacturers CD+G ?

Re: .lst files
Quote:
By moving the song files then your .LST file does not know where to find the files to add to the list because the .lst file is a list of locations of files to add. Since you moved them the list cannot find them. I find the easiest way to create write lists is to work from the master list (left column). If I want to duplicate a particular original CD, then I sort that list by Filename. That groups all songs in a DiskID order so I can find all of the songs from a particular CD. Then I highlight them and add them to the playlist, highlight them all in the playlist and add them to the write disk list. Open Write Disk and they will all be there at once.

Re: .lst files
Thats the answer I was looking for Dale. Thanks... One other dumb question, how do I get them to highlight in this program. I tried alot of different combos and I am just missing it.

Re: .lst files
From microstudio main dialog, left click the first song of your choice then at the end of your chosen songs hold down shift and at the same time left click.
This highlights all that group. If you just want individual songs, instead of shift use the CTRL key.

Re: .lst files
Sorry for being a pain guys... Well I tested just coping files over to another drive, seems the .lst files remain intact.

Re: .lst files
As long as you just copy, leaving the original set where ther were when you created the lists works fine. However moving the files to another drive without leaving the original set where they were then the list will not work.
