Error: Serial Number doesn't match Registration Information

I have a Sony Vaio notebook with 98SE.

I saw somebody else had this problem also in another thread that Bryan responded to. After installation (and reinstallation -- I tried that also), the program will not start up. It says my "serial # doesn't match up with registration info".

I cut and pasted the registration code from the email you sent me and my email is correct. I'm using Windows98, so the administrator stuff shouldn't really apply. Any help would be appreciated.

The main reason I'm trying your product is the multi-session problems that Chartbuster presents on their last track. I noticed that your web site says that with some extra effort I can get these extracted. Respond as soon as you can.

First, you must run all of the Windows Updates. If you have not done ALL of the updates, this will occur.

Next, we just found that this is a bug in our security that only occurs with Windows 98SE or ME.

Work-Around! Install a network card. So for your older laptop, you need to get a USB network card and just plug it into the laptop. It doesn't have to be activated, just plugged in.

You can use a USB network module outside the Laptop if you don't have a port to plug into.

Our engineer is working on a fix for this, but it is not solved yet.

Hi. I just bought the Suite 4, the Internal CD burner and 100 CD's from mtu website.

I installed all the software. The only one not working is the Microstudio.
Keep saying that I have a wrong Registration Code.

I installed and uninstalled the software several times. I also copied the registration code from the email I'd received.
No spaces before or after the number.

I'm using Win 98se.
The demo runs perfectly.

Any idea?

I read the posts for this problem, last one was to install a network card temporarily until this has a solution for op sy such as ME which I have. I am on a wireless network with a wireless card installed by Roadrunner on a laptop. Now what? I cannot install both! I just bought this software, getting very discouraged here. Thanks!

If you have a Wireless network card, this should correctly work. Are you still unable to make the program work?

Here is the answer to your problem. It is due to your computer not having a network card installed. Read my posts above.

We have discovered a rare bug in our security code.

It only happens with Windows 98SE or ME when there is no Network (Ethernet) card installed in the computer.

To overcome this problem now, please obtain any ISA or PCI bus Network card, install it and remove then reinstall Microstudio 2.604. We found some cards for $16 that worked fine.

If this does not solve your problem, post back here.

We are now working on a software code fix for this "Serial # mismatch error" problem. We currently expect to have this available for you to test within 1-2 weeks, with a full release by the end of July.

Note this warning! Since Microsoft has formally announced they will discontinue Windows 98 and ME in 2005, we will discontinue support of 98SE and ME before the end of 2004. We simply can't justify the ongoing expense to support these outdated Operating Systems. We value each of you as our customer, so please make plans to replace your older 98/ME computers and move up to Windows XP Home or Pro.

i have the same problem. I run win98 2nd edit. Microstudio version 2604. It was working now it is not. it says serial # does not match reg#. I have unistalled and reistalled. I copied and pasted the info for regestration. still no luck

You must have a Network card installed in your computer or you will always get this error.

Yes i do have ethernet card installed. that's how i get on the internet

Any help yet with the Serial #/registration problem ? I'm wondering if I missed a download somewhere. I'll be upgrading to XP in a couple of weeks-but would like to get the new version of Microstudio working sooner-if possible.

No room on my motherboard for another card (network)-(will be rebuilding soon).

If you add a USB network card it would work.

I am having the same problem as the previous person. I have Windows 98SE and am getting the serial number does not match reg info. Pleqase help as I am getting frustrated!

No luck. I have run the updates, I have a network card. I did noticed in the registry that I still show that2.605 AND 2.315 are both in there. Your program only lets me delete the 2.605 and not the 2.315. It looks like the only way to get out the 2.315 is to do it through the windows program.Or maybe I should delete out the 2.605 with Windows and try to run your install program again to get out the 2.315?
