plextor 708a and microstudio won´t work with nero or roxio

Hi!
I am very new to this, but I still want my MS 2.609 to work with my plextor 708a. I upgraded it´s firmware to 108 and i think it might have something to do with my nero 6.0. get message about something with asapi....
My trouble is that i can´t copy my discs.

There is a conflict between the Plextor 708a and both Roxio 6 and Nero 6.

I have the Plextor 708a myself, and could not burn CDs consistently until I uninstalled both Roxio and Nero and then reinstalled Microstudio.

did you install nero again. i relly would like to use that software

I haven't reinstalled Nero yet. From what I understand, you'll have this problem whenever you have Nero 6 installed.

I figure I'll finish the backup project I'm working on, and then reinstall Nero for everyday use. I don't make karaoke backups except when I buy new CDs, so I can just uninstall Nero everytime I need to.

Not a beautiful solution, but it works for now.

This is a DVD writer isn't it? How could removing your DVD-Burning software be an even remotely acceptable solution? Is MTU coming out with DVD-Burning software? Nearly all the discussion seems to be surrounding Plextor DVD-Burning drives. What's the use of Microstudio working with these drives if they can't be run by DVD-Burning software?

I'm considering buying a Plextor DVD-+R drive. Except for "uninstalling Roxio, Nero" etc., I'm not seeing a solution. The "uninstalling" solution seems contradictory (sp?) to the purpose for having the drive in the first place
