Extended monitor problems...

I started seeing problems arrise when I updated my hoster program... At first I would not get the extended monitor to come up... I would have to reboot from an earlier date... Then I started turning my computer on (with out a ext. monitor pluged in) after I got it up and running I would restart and plug my ext. mon. in and it would work... Now I get nothing on my extended monitor at all... I don't know if it is an issue with my video card (it says there are not problems when I trouble shoot it) or with hoster? Any ideas... I have been using hoster for years and am connecting everything correctly...

This happened to me 6 months ago and Dell Co. determined it was my video card. The motherboard was replaced (with integrated card) and all was fine afterwards. maybe this is your problem as well??

I'm going to try and run my ext. mon. through the s-video port on the card next. (Currently I run it through the RCA plug on it) I'll try it tonight and pray that it works... I hate to have to replace my video card... I'm sure I'll get one so I have it on hand, but I didn't know a video card would fail like that... I thought it was all or nothing with them...

I moved this to the Hoster Help forum as it belongs there.

To my knowledge,Video cards require the second monitor to be 1) plugged in and 2) turned on BEFORE you turn the computer on. If not, the Video card doesn't come up in dual-display mode. This may be different for different cards, but it is the instructions in the manual under Troubleshooting Guide.

Of course I don't have the OS disc anymore... it broke! I hope it can be fixed for tonights show... I plan to put a new video card in if I have to...
