Hoster Closes Down

Hi,
i´m in the process of editing all of my songs with Hoster to check for errors(wrong Song,Title etc). When i play back the songs using Hoster(TOOLS/EDIT SONGS),after about 10 -15 Songs Hoster closes down sometimes with an error message, sometimes without!.I have all windows updates and this problem occurs on both my DELL and HP Notebooks.I can live with it,but i thought i would mention it in case it is significant.
I have the newest version of Hoster however this did also happen with 3.120.
Windows gives the following error message:

Offset 000a0704 and this message is always the same.

I have just tested this. I just went through and edited and played over 45 songs, I had no crashes at all.

I am not sure what would cause this, but no matter what I do it works on my system.

Are any other customers having any problems with this?

Red face I've seen it too.

I had noticed the same behavior that johnocolin described in the November/December 2005 time frame. At that point I was using the then current version of Hoster and going through all of my songs to verify spelling/Titles and that they played correctly. I would consistently notice that after I had previewed/edited around 15 - 45 songs Hoster would exit sometimes with and sometimes without an error message. Unfortunately I did not write down the error message. I would then restart Hoster and continue on where I left off.

I just worked around it and assumed I was pushing the Tools/Edit function a little too far. I never lost any data, it was just an inconvenience.

My latest Hoster version 3.303 was installed last week.. I have since experienced "serious error" shutdowns, which kick me clear out of hoster.. I am also now experiencing shutdowns when in other programs.. I have put in all of the latest upgrades to no avail.

More info!

Perhaps i should mention that i would press PLAY NEXT in succession upwards of 10 times without editing before this error would occur.By stopping the player in between i can stop the problem occuring.

I used the Plan Next subsequently to play the Title page of the song, then click Play Next, I did this through Multiple songs, but I will go back and make sure that I do it at least 10 + times in a Row.

N539T,

What other programs are shutting down?

If this is happening to more than one program you may have a problem with a virus or spyware or a problem with your hard drive. I would run the Error-Checking on your drive first just to make sure it isn't failing. If that doesn't find a problem scan for virus or spyware.

More Info

Hi,
no other problems with any Software.I have 512Mb Ram in the HP NX7000
and 1024MB in the Dell Inspiron(only one week old!).I´m still editing on both computers(swapping between the two!) and it continually shuts down.I start each song until the Title appears just to confirm that the Song and the Title in my list are the same.I then click PLAY NEXT after about 10-20 Songs Hoster just shuts down. This happens on both computers sometimes with the above mentioned error sometimes not.
Like i said,i can live with it i just hope it stays confined to the editing and doesn´t happen during a show.

Hmmm!?

Hi,

somethings just occured to me.All the files i am editing are on my Western Digital USB drive,do you think that perhaps the data transfer isn´t quick enough for Hoster to react during the successive file playback.?

Johnocolin,
I am not sure about that, but I will try this on an External Hard drive. I also have an External WD 250GB drive, with some KMA files on it. I will hook this up and try from that and see what happens.

I am running 2gb of memory in my Laptop that I was testing on, this should have no effect, as long as you have at least 512mb for XP to run correctly.

The problem is dealing with the USB drive. I have now caused it to crash, while using the USB drive attached. I clicked Play Next about 18 times on my system before it crashed, but it did it.

I now can give it over to the Engineer and have him look at it. I will talk to Admin about this, so that he can put it in the spec to be fixed.

Bryan,

See POSTS #13 and #14 and #22 in the 3.300 Beta 11 Thread.

Then, see POST #1 Paragraph 7 in 3.300 Beta 12.

I guess I missed out on that one NREEL. I was not aware of it, so this is new to me. I was also out of the loop on the Betas for 3.3xx.

Thanks for pointing it out to me, but this may also give Dave something to go on to fix it, as he was not using an external drive to try to diagnose this.
