Lyrics display but no Music
Hey fun seekers,
Here is a strange problem that has happened with Hoster (ver. 3.110) on my XP home SP2, 64 bit AMD 3000 processor, KT800 chipset, 512 meg. ram. ATI 9600 video card w/64 meg. dedicated ram laptop. I use a USB 2.0/ Firewire external drive enclosure with a Plextor PX-708A drive, using USB connectivity. First I imported about 120 CDG disks with about 600 total and other things to do in my life, I took a break for about 3 weeks possibly longer. The imports have worked fine. So I continue where I left off and I have done another 24 or so and these new imports have the lyrics on screen but no sound. The discs play fine in windows media player 10 and I can even synchronize the lyrics to the imports running Hoster at the same time. KMA file size looks right for the quality (128). The only programs installed in the past month are Doom3, Blackhawk Striker (a shockwave game) and a few Internet games (checkers, backgammon, hearts, etc.) Not by me, but with 6 kids it’s hard to keep them off this one no matter how much I hoot and holler that there are 4 other computers they can use I still find them here. One disk I imported was not in the database of disks and I entered them manually but it was not the first disk of this second import session so the email received from MTU about the bug I don’t think is relevant. I did try to import over a few of the disks after reboot and reinitializing drive but that didn’t do anything either. I viewed the database of songs with Microsoft Access and everything looked kosher. Then I grabbed a disk that had not been imported and it came up with a book id root of 1, should be 145 or there about, so I have stopped and wrote this. Maybe the fix could be to save KMA files and uninstall and reinstall the program? Thanks in advance for the help. Kip |

when you uninstall hoster, it does not delete you r kma's
if they are stored in the microtech folder and you manually delete that folder you will lose them. just try a re-install. |

In the description of your system you said everything except a sound card, are you sure you have one? hehe. Just kidding! Are you using the sound card on the laptop or an external? Can you hear windows when you start or shut down? Can you listen to regular mp3's or listen to a cd?

![]() Kip,
I had a similar problem when I installed a program called Messageoke. Every disc I imported after that had graphics but no music. All songs imported before that worked fine. I uninstalled Messageoke and re-imported those discs and all was well again. I tried re-importing the discs before the un-install and it didn't change a thing. So, I'm positive that Messageoke was the problem. I didn't try re-installing Hoster without un-installing Messageoke though. That might have worked, I just didn't try that. Messageoke was a demo version and I haven't tried re-installing it since. Just, some proof positive that other programs can interfere with Hosters operation. Hope this helps, Wally ![]()
