Unhappy Anyone having any hoster glitches?

I have been expiencing little glitches and i'm trying to figure this out. I thought I would throw this out to see if anyone else is having similar problems, or if anyone knows how to fix it. I am leaning towards thinking it is a sound card problem. I have been having a couple of problems and they are this. During a show the music (sound) will just stop. no sound. The graphics will still be moving right along on the screen but no sound. So I have to press stop on the song and then 80% of the time I can press play and it will be working again. However sometimes I will press play and my playlist will read error down the playlist for every song. Then I reboot and it still reads error, so then I opened a new playlist and tried to play a song and it said error. The only way I could fix that during that show is to completely unplug the computer from all power. Then I rebooted and it worked. The reason I think it is a sound card issue is because I formatted one of my systems yesterday and I loaded everything, pulled up hoster and went to play a song and it said error for all the songs. Then I realized I had no sound drivers loaded, because i turned off the onboard sound but didn't put in my audigy drivers. So I loaded them and no errors. The other problem I am having is that hoster will just freeze! I will try a ctrl, alt, del to close it and it won't even close that way. The only thing i can do is shut down to get it back up. The audio problem I am only having on one system, but the freezing up problem I am having is on two systems. Anyway if anyone knows anything I would appreciate the info. I did think the harware acceleration thing was fixed and hadn't changed it and didn't have any problems with 2.217. However these all started happening with 2.219 so I have since lowered the hardware acceleration. Is there another 24 bit sound card mtu recommends besides audigy? Ok thanks everyone.

Re: Anyone having any hoster glitches?

if you used microsoft update for your video card that would be your problem. you can rollback your driver.

make sure all windows updates are current. also make sure you have sp2.

Re: Anyone having any hoster glitches?

Microsoft video update? Umm.... would that be downloaded with automatic updates? And if I don't want that to download how would i prevent it from automatically updating? I am using on one of the systems an nvidia and the other a radeon. Those are the drivers i'm using. Would windows update change those without me wanting it done? Also thanks for the info.

Question Re: Anyone having any hoster glitches?

I too have noticed this error problem. I notice also that my soundcard drivers seem to be non existant all of a sudden. I have not done anything different that I have forever. I get ERROR for every song and in my music jukebox. I reboot and someitmes that works. I have had to take out the sound card start the pc then turn it off put the card back in and reboot. I can find no reason why this happens.

I also have noticed when I try to do a cdg input while I am playing a song on jukebox player and do a cdg download at the same time I get the song copped up or it stops my jukebox music and does its thing. I have a 1600 AMD with 512 RAM I raised my RAM from 256 to 512 and it still does it? can anyone give me a hint or tip on what to do?

Thanks
Rich

Re: Anyone having any hoster glitches?

it would if you are setup to automatically to do so. never use windows video drivers. always go to the original manf. to get your drivers.

Re: Anyone having any hoster glitches?

Thank god I'm not the only one here having this type of problem! I havn't had to pull my sound card out but like I said It wasn't a simple reboot I had to do to fix it but I had to unplug the computer. I think something is still in the memory somewhere that retains whatever happened, but when I remove all the power it fixed it and I made it through the show. Yes it also affects my jukebox when this happens cause the jukebox doesn't detect a sound card so therefore it won't work. I don't think it's a problem with your amd 1600 cause I am using a 3000 athlon and the other system is a p4 2.8
Hmm........
MTU Help!!

And yes I am checking into the video card drivers but for some reason it seems to be leaning towards a sound card problem.
