Slow Sweep Still Not Fixed
I'm still fighting a nagging problem with the graphics sweep being slow. I know now that it has nothing to do with hoster..but I still am experiencing the problem. Perhaps someone with a keen knowlege of Directx may be able to help. Here Goes:
I have narrowed the problem down to the directx settings in 2 places: 1. DirectDraw Acceleration needs to be disabled 2. The Hardware sound acceleration needs to be set at basic acceleration At these settings Hoster graphics sweep is perfect. However the problem comes when the computer is rebooted or shut down DirectX does not save those settings. So when I turn on the computer and open hoster and play a song the graphics sweep is slow. The only way that I can get them in sync again is to go to DirectX Diagnostic Tool and reset the settings. When I go in to do this it shows the corrrect settings but I actually have to bring the sound acceleration setting to Standard and then back to basic to make it work. Don't know why but this works. What is interesting is that sometimes it will not work on basic acceleration and so I have to use the standard to do the trick, and other times the basic setting is what will work. This is each and every time I wish to use Hoster. I never had this problem prior to downloading 2.213 #3 then it all started...I checked all downloads prior to downloading this version and I had no downloads with the exception of MTU and Hoster version prior to 2.213 #3 no other programs were downloaded for a full month prior. I did do a DirectX 9.0c download about 20 days after Hoster 2.213#3 but the problem began right after this hoster download and I was just trying to eliminate the possibility that I was not current on my directx version. I tried getting help from microsoft but it is like beating my head against the wall. I'm in way over my head and could use any help that you could offer. I have used hoster successfully with this laptop for 8 months without encountering this problem. Of course at this point my frustration level is quite high ![]() Flipper |

Re: Slow Sweep Still Not Fixed
does this accelleration problem happen equally with all labels, or just certain ones in particular. If it's only certain ones, can you list the disc maker and titles?

Re: Slow Sweep Still Not Fixed
"it works" meaning, the sweep is slow on all labels? Or did you fix the problem?

Re: Slow Sweep Still Not Fixed
yes the sweep is slow on all labels. I have a fix for the problem if I want to reset the directx settings everytime I reboot the computer. but this is very time consuming.
I will continue this way if I have to, but from day one on this computer I have not had to mess with the directx settings to get hoster to sweep correctly. Up until the last hoster upgrade the problem did not exist. Again I'm not saying that Hoster is the cause of the problem..... The problem just started the same day that I downloaded the new upgrade. hope this helps flipper |

Re: Slow Sweep Still Not Fixed
Flipper,
When you change the DirectX Hardware acceleration it should always hold this when the computer is rebooted. I am not sure why your computer is not holding this setting. This is part of Windows, and there is no other control over this setting, that I am aware of. You may also try going to the Laptop Manufacturers website, and get the very latest drivers for your motherboard (Chipset Drivers) and also the latest video drivers for that Laptop. Have you run all of the Windows Updates also? If not then I would recommend doing this also.
