Windows 7 Ultimate: User Access Control

When launching Hoster 4.11 a 'UAC is not turned off' message as per the .gif attachment appears.

I confirm that UAC is turned off and all other MTU recommended ‘Vista’ settings have been implemented. I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Hoster 4.11 version freshly downloaded from MTUs website today, without success. A Windows 7 Ultimate issue? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Haven't heard of this before so may be an "Ultimate" problem. Does it show as off in the window behind the message window as it says?

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate without any problems at all. You must drag the slider to the very bottom, so that it is set to Never Notify me. Then you must Reboot your computer once you do this for it to take affect.

Bryan and Dale - Thanks for the advice. Before initially posting here I'd already determined how to disable UAC ... and yes I did reboot afterwards. When that didn't work I also disabled UAC with Regedit in Windows 7 as per the instructions below:

Disable UAC with Regedit in Windows 7
1. Run Registry Editor (RegEdit) by typing regedit at command prompt or at startmenu->run
2. Locate following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software \Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
3. Locate the following REG_DWORD value: EnableLUA
4. Set the value of EnableLUA to 0.
Optional step to suppress UAC permission prompt dialog,
1. Locate the following REG_DWORD value: ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin
2. Set the value of ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin to 0 (optional).
Now Exit from Registry Editor and Restart the computer.

Regedit didn't work either (and yes I've checked again for the umpteenth time and confirm that the slider is set at 'Never Notify'.

I know that Windows 7 Ultimate also has a 'Windows XP Mode' but I'd prefer not to have to go down that road unless I have to.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Try re-installing Hoster now that you have all that set and see if you still get the message. All those settings should be done before installation of Hoster any way. May be a flag that gets set if you haven't done it and it doesn't reset except during installation.
When you installed Hoster, did you check the box that said something like I have checked all the settings to run Hoster? There should be Yes and No boxes.

Dale,

I have again retried everything, including uninstalling and reinstalling Hoster; re-enabling UAC with Hoster uninstalled and rebooting; disabling UAC with Hoster uninstalled and rebooting; reinstalling my original version of 3.21 and rebooting; reinstalling the 4.11 upgrade and rebooting.

I'd like to try uninstalling and reinstalling Hoster one final time, how do I remove all traces of Hoster from the Windows registry after uninstalling?

Thanks again.
