Angry Lyrics out of sync with Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT

I just got a Dell Vostro 1500 with Vista Business on It. I've noticed that the lyrics in Hoster especialy for Pop Hits Monthly are out of sync even when I adjusted the offset. If I adjust the offset for a PHM song it would play good but then a Sound Choice song would be out of sync and so on. I optimized vista for best performance and the lyrics and music would be in synce, but then the lyrics on Sound Choice songs would be garbled. I had to revert to "Adjust for best appearance" so the lyrics would show nice but then it would make the lyrics and music out of sync. Really don't know what to do now. I've checked the nvidia site for drivers but there aren't any to download. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Did you try the DXDIAG and adjust sound acceleration to standard?
How much memory is on this video card?

Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT (256MB)

I've tried DXDIAG but it doesn't have anywhere to adjust sound acceleration. The video has 256 memory, it's one of Nvidia's latest video.

I have all the latest updates from Dell. Nvidia doesn't offer any driver for this video. Maybe because it's on the motherboard of the laptop.

This is strange. Normally it would be all are lagging or all that the video would be a head. No sound tab in dxdiag? Look in your control panel for sound setting and see if there is a hardware acceleration adjustment. If so then lower that one notch and try again.

This may sound like a strange piece of advice, but that happened to me at the last show; words and lyrics not in sync, I noticed that the battery icon was shown in the toolbar down below. What had happened was the power supply wasn't working and the laptop was on battery power. Hoster doesn't take to well to battery power.

Had to replace the power adapter/supply. Luckily I had a back there that night.

Maybe a simple reboot & shut down any unnecessary programs that aren't needing to be used. My test computer developed some of the problems you described & a reboot was all that was needed.

Nothing Works!

I tried everything that everyone suggested and the lyrics still lag behind except for sound choice songs, that only lag the first line of every page in the song. The video & audio on the vostro laptop don't support any acceleration adjustments. DXdiag doesn't have any acceleration sliders for audio nor video. Don't know what to do next. Anybody?

How much memory do you have on board? I had some sound issues until I increased my Vista machine to over 1 gb. Also, I turn off all unneeded applications while running hoster. This includes my wireless network connection, Windows Defender, Anti Virus etc.... You have probably tried all this. If so, sorry just trying to be helpful.

Good luck,

Henry

Angry

I have 2gigs of memory and a 2ghz intel core 2 duo processor on board. I have disabled all running programs I could possibly disable without affecting the laptop, still get the same problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the sound, video and Hoster numerous times but still have the same problem. I have configured Vista for best performance but then the lyrics on Hoster main display show garbled but not on the singers display. This only happens when i play Sound Choice songs. My Nvidia 8600M GT video and Sigmatel audio won't allow me to change acceleration either. I'm just about ready to put on XP on, but afraid I'll have the same problem. What do you guys think?

Have you ever worked with the registry? If so, what processes do you have loading at start-up? Also, what is loading from the Startup folder of the Start menu?

I think Dale is pointing you in the right direction. I did a google search on your computer and video card and there seem to be some issues with that video card. Although, issues you find like that on the internet are not always all that valid. It really seems to be a video card driver issue (just my humble opinion). I believe I would do a little more research and try to contact nvidia. 2 gb of Ram should be good. I just have 1 gb and Vista home on my Toshiba laptop and it works great. I do not know if Vista business is more of a memory hog.

Have you checked for driver updates for the video card. This is a previous thread on this problem:

We know the standard Vostro works well with Hoster and XP. Is your graphics and audio standard or optionally added?

Given what has been tried, I agree with Dale and Henry, it sounds like a driver problem. The reason we added the Tools menu Playback Offset control years ago... video cards with out of date drivers always exhibited an offset, but never different between brands.

I think you need to contact Dell and either get a new driver, or return the unit to them and get one with XP. It is best not to replace the Windows OS on a system you bought with a different OS. Doing so breaks the warranty and they won't help you after that. If they say they don't have a newer driver for Vista, return it and get XP.

We do NOT recommend Vista, and here is yet another proof reason. We didn't recommend XP until SP2 was released. Vista is still in pre-release as far as we are concerned.

My video was optionally installed. nVidia 8600M GT. I tried with the audio offset but it would slow down audio on some songs and on others make the audio faster. Anyway, Today I loaded XP on the Dell Vostro 1500. All PROBLEMS FIXED!! Now I need admin to reset my Microstudio registration.
May I say I miss Vista's Aero so bad. Thanks for all the help guys.

Glad to hear XP fixed the problem for you. Sorry to hear that Vista is STILL creating problems.

Please submit a Web Email Form request to Dept: SUPPORT and make this request.
