Missing/Duplicate IDs after Re-build
After upgrading from 3.317 to 3.321 on Vista, the Shows ran very smoothly, except for 1 problem - MISSING songs after rebuilding the database. The instructions said NOT to move the database file, but that file contained ALL songs. When I ran 2 Shows last weekend, I discovered that many of the FIRST songs/CDGs I uploaded to Hoster 2 years ago are no longer in the database. In fact, Hoster said there were a total of 765 Duplicate IDs. This was very upsetting, especially during a Show!!!!!!!
Do I really have to re-import ALL those songs all over again? Is there any real reason why I can't just use the database that was used by 3.317? |

If bookid is not an issue, just do a database merge & those duplicates will renumber & be there.
Also, not sure if anyone else ran into this problem, but I think this is another Vista glitch. I had a bunch of folders of regular music that I moved into one main folder. Every song that was moved disappeared - NOT to be found again. This wasn't even Hoster related, nothing was open at the time. So moving a folder in Vista MIGHT be a problem, just a heads up!!!!!

I only moved the "files" as per MTU instructions, before updating. KMA files were NOT moved as they were already on an external HD. The instructions specifically said NOT TO move the dba file from within Program Files, but to do a "Rebuild".
I could care less about Book IDs. When people ask for songs, they ask for a specific "Brand name" that they are used to singing. I type in the song name & then ask them which version they prefer. OK, I'll try a Merge & see if it adds the songs it left out the first time & just give them a new ID #. |

3.321 Database Problems
Is the original Songs.mdb file still there? If so you should be able to copy it to replace the one built by 3.321. The reason they said not to move it was that Hoster would rebuild it in the correct location. If this doesn't work it should not cause a problem as you can just rebuild it again and be back where you were.
This is really only a temporary fix as MTU needs to look at the database build for this and a couple of other problems that have come up with it.

Do feel you feel the "Merge" would add the rest of the songs to the newly "rebuilt" database? I'm wondering which way is best? (merge or replace with old database).
Thanks. |

I would personally try the old datbase first and see if that fixes the problem. Then if not try the Merge.

Another question: If your KMA's were on an external HD and instructions said not to move database files, which files exactly did you move? |

Did you see any error messages when you were importing? If not are all the files in one location?

Questions Answered
This is getting out of hand - Mindostrike, please read the whole thread (it's not that long). I didn't mention anything about Duplicate Disk IDs.
I simply wanted the opinion of another user, besides what I read in the Manual. DDouglass - You already answered my questions earlier, so you already know I didn't "import" anything new. I just did the "rebuild" as per the instructions. There were no "error" messages, only "Duplicate IDs". All files are where they need to be and kma files are&were on the ext.hd. They were not moved. Your explanation at 3:24pm did answer my previous question. AND - you already answered my questions whether to Merge or Rebuild. THANKS. |

There are only 2 kinds of "duplicate ID's , Book and Disk.
Sorry I won't bother you anymore. |

I recently had the same problem as you when I installed 3.321 on my old pc which I had just restored from scratch. I used the same external usb hard drive as I used with my laptop for the .kma files. I pressed the rebuild database button, it said I had 700 or so duplicate I.D. and there were a lot of tracks missing but on the laptop there were no duplicates reported. I then deleted the bad .mdb data base and rebuilt a second time and all was well, no duplicates and my full quantity of songs back. I don't know why but it was alright the second time.

![]() Sorry, I was so frustrated yesterday!!!!!!!
After all the discussion, I decided to take a closer look at the List of Duplicate ID's. To my surprise, all the CDGs listed as having a "duplicate ID#" were ALL in the database. (I really don't understand how this could have happened - it's as if I uploaded all them twice!!!!!!) As to why Songs seem to have "disappeared" when I tried to add them at my last Show - ![]() ![]() ![]() I also re-read the Manual, which does state that songs with duplicate IDs do need to be re-imported. However, since all these songs are still in the database, this is not necessary! ALL IS WELL. ![]() |
