3.319 errors on ZIP files with READ-ONLY internal files - Download new 3.319

It cannot be over written.

If your rsn file is a read only in Hoster 3.319 this error will come up.

I fixed it by..
Right click the file go to properties and make sure the rsn.mp3 is not a read only file.

Admin, can you fix this please? This never was a problem before the upgrade.

Thank you for reporting you are experiencing a problem with 3.319.

We are very interested in what you are reporting, but there is nothing here we can work on.

1. What track? What screen? What field?

2. Is this an error message you see? What did you do to see it? The problem Stefan reported on ZIP files containing READ-ONLY files is now fixed and released for download.

3. What track? What screen? What field?

4. What Windows OS are you running?

5. Have you done a CUSTOM update of Windows to download and install all upgrades? If not, that MOST OFTEN solves problems like these.

Please answer these 5 questions. We'll jump right on this if we can duplicate the problem. Otherwise, it may be something you need to submit as a SUPPORT Ticket to diagnose why this is happening on your computer.

I'm not saying Hoster doesn't have a bug, but until we can re-create it, or others report the same, it will be assumed to be a problem with your system and Windows installation.

Stefan, your analysis was perfect!

We tested ZIP files until the wee hours, many times, but we never thought to include a READ-ONLY properties file inside the ZIP.

Windows will NOT allow replacing a READ-ONLY file. Thus, it failed when the second ZIP file tried to play.

ONLY ZIPPED files with included READ-ONLY files will fail.

We will have a new set of 3.319 Full, Lite and Demo out for download within 3 hours at: http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster.htm

THANK YOU!!!

I renamed your post as this is a "universal" problem I wanted to make clear.

When importing your songs be sure to change the path the folder will import your song files to. This folder is no longer in the Program Files folder. This has changed in 3.319.

Then rebuild your database and make sure you have found and selected the new folder the songs were imported to.

1. Please post what type of KMA file this is. I'm assuming HDZIP, but we need to know for sure.

1.A. How did you add these songs to the Hoster playlist? Are they KMA files in the Songs database and you used BookID or Brand or Search? Or are the some other format (.zip, MP3+G, .bin, etc.) that you added with the MP3G or CDG, or Audio buttons?

2. I don't understand. Did you do #3 first, and then re-import as indicated in step 2?

3. I don't understand what you are doing here, or maybe why you are doing it. If this is now a .BIN file, and you use the Import Hard Drive Files screen to "import" it as a KMA file, it is already indexed in the Songs Database during the import operation. Why are you rebuilding this database?

Please don't take it wrong as I'm not trying to be argumentative. I'm trying to get the missing details so we can re-create the problem. Without that, we can't say there is or isn't a problem.

QUESTION: Did you try more than one song? If not, please do and report back here 1) what type files (HDZIP, CDCDG, etc.) you are importing, 2) what screen you are using (Import CD Tracks or Import Hard Drive Files), 3) what is the FULL error message you see when it doesn't play?

Can you zip up this "bad file" and post it as an attachment so we can diagnose with it? If you can't add it as an attachment, please email to "sales at mtu dot com", with "Northlander bad file" for the Subject. If we can create the problem, we can solve it.

FYI: We replaced the unzipper code we used in 3.316 and prior with new code that can handle MAX Compression files, which was a very serious problem... now solved. Thus, there is a valid reason (significant code change) why something that works with 3.316, which was very forgiving of bad ZIP files, that won't work with 3.318/3.319. We need the file to find out what we need to work on in the unzipper code.

northlander re 3319

admin
first of all i don't understand all the ins and outs all that i know is that 3316
played everysong fine along with microstudio, but i'll try to explain what is happening to me .
# 1 the files that i use are zip files.
2 i import them with import tracks " hard drive files"
3 then they change to kma songs database and i use book id . brand and search to play these songs with hoster.
4 when the file did not play with 3319 i opened songverter to see if i could convert.
the kma file which i could bring up with sonverter source folder and source format would show kma karaoke files( kma with audio+ lyrics.
i would then open my target format to convert" bin karaoke files( bin with audio + lyrics " and convert to target folder local disc c then i would import into hoster as a bin file, the song would then play.
i don't know if this is the right way but it worked.
the new 3319 feb has solved i believe most of the problems, i have checked a all of my files and most seem to be fine now i still believe there is a small problem with path and or track missing and could be on this end i don"t know
one error reads unexpected error processing the zip file 0x00000200
c:\docume 1\robert 1\locals 1\temp\qptrsz86\auout.zzz
another is THE'JERRY WALLACE TRACK IS MISSING .
i don't know if this will help you or not . but if it will help us all, thats what this is all about, mtu to me is still # 1

northlander, can you attach one of the ZIP files that is giving you problems?

If we can get it, we can analyze what is wrong and fix it.

When Stefan told us how he fixed a work-around, we instantly found what his problem was... which is very rare; none of us or our beta testers ever thought to test a READ ONLY file in a zip file.
