Smile Songbook and Windows Vista Solution

I recently loaded Hoster onto a new Vista based laptop and like others, had problems finding or viewing the songbook. I have managed to fix this problem and can now create and view my songbook within Hoster. Below are the steps that I took.

Right click on the Start icon then left click on Explore

Browse to Program Files then to Micro Technology Unlimited then Hoster and finally you will want to RIGHT CLICK on the Songbook folder.

When you right click on the songbook folder it will bring up a dialog box in which you will want to left click on PROPERTIES.

This will now bring up another dialog box where you can change the properties for the Songbook folder. You will then click on the tab that says Security. This will bring up a list of groups or usernames. By default it will be at the top of the list with CREATOR OWNER highlighted (Do not worry about this entry). Click on the EDIT button to change permissions. This will bring up yet another box with the same list (again, ignoring CREATOR OWNER) start going down the list - next will probably be SYSTEM, click on it so it is highlighted then click in the Permissions under the ALLOW column – FULL CONTROL. Do the same thing for Administrators, Users, and Trusted installers or others if they are on your list. Then click Apply. Once you do this, you should be able to create and open the songbook from within Hoster with no problems.

Hope this helps!
Kenny

After following your suggestions, was going to write & ask you for more advice, but I found additional info from reading HELP that changing User Accounts in the Control Panel also allowed for the complete installation of the originally missing files when I first installed Hoster.

You can't see it with Explorer or when you try to open it with Word, Excel, or Wordpad?
Have you created a songbook in Hoster? If not then that would be why you can't see it. If you have then you need to go back and do the same steps to that file itself. File name that Hoster builds is Songbook.rtf

When you rebuild the database include in the upper window all the locations you have your KMA files. Then recreate the songbook and it will include all of your songs.
