Disc Recognition and Naming Files
I don't have Hoster. I want to believe that once I get Hoster, that it will recognize all my discs and name the files accordingly. In the demo, I put in a Multi-Karaoke Disc OKE002 and the program did not recognize the disc. First I just clicked the Online Database Function. Nothing, then I input the Brand and Disc ID like the demo prompted me to do still nothing.
Am I doing something wrong? Does Hoster recognize more discs than Microstudio? |

If your discs are newer than 2004 (last update of internal list) and it doesn't find it in the On-line (FreeDB) database then, you will have to enter the data manually. Microstudio only uses the on-line database, so you may find Hoster would have better luck finding it if it is older than 2004.

Online Database
That's the problem. Other programs don't have problems recognizing the disc. Sure, the other programs are not Karaoke wise and only give the name of the song, not the original artist. What service does Hoster use? Are you saying that it doesn't list discs newer than 2004? (My mentioned disc is not newer than 2004 and is listed on the Hoster disc numbers, just no luck showing the names of the songs for importing-unless I'm doing something wrong)

Hopefully this will help, try the local database first. It has most all prior to 2004 in it. If it does not work and the online database does not work, then you have to enter the names and artists manually. I have 263 cd-g's loaded and only had to enter about 4 or 5 of them manually. The system is great. Does take some getting used to. I would recommend reading the entire help file. Go to the Help menu and select Hoster Manual.

The online service they currently use is called FreeDB and the entries are submitted by users of the database. This is a free service, but no guarantee that what you are trying to enter is listed. Their internal MTU created database, as hwheeler43 says has most of the discs produced prior to 2004. MTU stopped updating this database in 2004, because it was taking up too much of their time and a drain on resources. Last I heard is they are negotiating with a company to get a better current database with updates. The downside is they will need to charge us a fee for those updates like everyone else. I don't like having to type any more than you do, so I will gladly pay the fee. I haven't tried the demo so not sure whether it will add the information or not on the disc you tried.
