Problem with new CD/DVD drive and importing Singer's disc tracks

same thing happened to me when i tried the new external cd/dvd drive i bought a few days ago , i imported a track from my cdg's while playing a song just to see how fast it would be to import a song ,the screen went black and stopped for a few seconds and it went back on..i dont know what i did but the following day i tried it again and its now working fine..
