Smile Hoster Required Cd/dvd Recorder?

I'm looking to purchase hoster software, but read somewhere that we needed a cd/dvd recorder or MTU certified cdg burner.

Most PC/laptop comes with a cd/dvd player/writer, can I use this to read my karaoke disc & work with hoster application? I thought the cdg burner is needed only when we want or ready to burn the selected tracks to a cdr for karaoke machine.

My assumption here is that you load in your original karaoke disc (CDG) and store it on your hard drive via the Hoster software. From there, we can do whatever we want with the tracks, then use the MTU CDG burner to burn/create a custom disc for playback on a karaoke machine. My purpose is to record selected tracks from multiple karaoke disc onto a single disc. Does this sound right? If so, then it's exactly what I need.

I've been reading all MTU products, but please let me know what else is needed...

Thanks.

Hoster is a program that is used by Karaoke Hosts to run Karaoke shows.

If you want to import CDG tracks to the hard drive to do "what you want with", you would import them to the hard drive using Microstudio.

In either case you would need a cdg compliant burner. The device needs to be able to read/write cdg in order to import or burn cdg.

From what you said, Microstudio would be a must, along with a cdg compliant burner. You can use the Microstudio Demo to determine if your burner read/write CDG.

A tip for the future...You will be doing yourself a favor to start your own threads instead of tagging on to a thread completely unrelated to your question.

Hope this helps.

You can download the Demo version of Microstudio to test to see if your burner will work with the program.

I split this to a separate thread as it was off topic.

MTU buys, tests, and certifies the drives we sell to CORRECTLY read and write the CDG format discs, which are VERY DIFFERENT from Audio CD format discs. We reject the drives that fail our testing, and sell the ones that pass and we certify.

Another customer recently went out and bought a Plextor 760 drive, and is very mad with us because it won't work. That can happen, but we don't accept the blame. The drives we sell will work with our software for CDG use. They may not work with every other software on the market that can do CDG. There is nothing we can do to provide a "universal" drive today.

However, the error correction that is in Microstudio 4.0 and Hoster 3.316 is the best on the market. Your imported CDG lyrics will have fewer or no graphics flaws than any other software. Thus, it is best to import with MTU software, then use our files by other programs if ours won't do what you want to.

As George picked up, you are confusing what Hoster and Microstudio can do. Both can import files, but only Microstudio can write a custom assembled disc, or make a backup copy. Hoster only imports. You should consider the Hoster Suite 4 of programs. It is a package deal that will save you money if you want all the features we offer.
