Hoster Manual

I purchased Hoster a couple of days ago and have a problem printing the Manual. The right side of every page is chopped off. Obviously MTU anticipated the problem because the put in a "VERY IMPORTANT" dialog box on how to correct it. I have tried the directions that MTU provided without success.

I have contacted MTU support and received little help at this point. I am continuing my dialog with them.

Anyone out there have a quick fix answer??

Thanks,
Jim Sheltraw

Did you change your printer margins to 0.4 or 0.3 for left and right? If that doesn't fix it, the problem is likely your printer margin can't be set that small.

Follow the directions, or have someone more technical do it for you if it is geek to you, to change the Width="85%" on the topmost Table. This controls the overall width of the text copy for the entire manual. You CAN solve your problem with this. If you don't understand it, get help from someone local. MTU has provided two ways to solve this problem. We can't help any further.

I have the same problem. My printer is capable of printing to the edge, but nothing I do in the settings will allow me to print the entire pages from the web.
Would it be possible to make it available as a pdf download?

Did you try to change the Width="85%"?

We only have the manual in HTML format. There aren't enough complaints on the manual not printing to justify the extra effort to produce and maintain a PDF of all our manuals. If more users see this Thread and post they are having problems, it will get my attention.

Hoster Manual

It seems strange to me that I have been able to print out the manuals to Microstudio, Keyrite, KHPro and Vogone, as provided when I purchased them, but am advised to get additional help "from someone local" to print the Hoster manual. In my mind it seems logical that the provider (MTU) has done something different, in providing the Hoster manual, so that the customer (me), is not able to print this material and then tells me that they "can't help any further"

My experiences with MTU and their products has been wonderful but this leaves me a bit cold and disappointed.

ADMIN:
Checked it out just to see. Cuts off the right side here also and none of the fixes work. When 85% shrink to fit is used, the page is much smaller on the paper, but still cut off.

For what it's worth, I'm looking at a Hoster versio 1.000 manual I printed out on 7/23/2002 when we first started Hoster, and it is all there. Something has changed.

SHELTRAW:
I wouldn't recommend this for the entire manual, but if you have A couple of specific pages you want to print to refer to while learning the program, you will get the full width if you use LANDSCAPE. Drawback is it will take two pages or so for each portrait page. I just tried it to make sure, and it will work in a pinch.

Yes I tried that & know HTML & the width change didn't work there either.

Thanks George. I tried the landscape thing also but it wouldn't be practicle for the entire manual. Thanks for your input (and support).

OK, seems we have a problem. Sheltraw, forgive me for being terse earlier. I'm overworked and stressed out.

QUESTION: There are 5 HTM documents that comprise the Hoster manual. Which ones are you having problems printing?

Hoster Manual

Apology accepted. It appears that I have problems with all of them.
Thanks,

Here is what we are finding.

If you are using Internet Explorer 7.0 or FireFox Browsers, select Print Preview, then select "Shrink to Fit", not 100%. This will resize to print everything on each page, including the right table border.

If you are using IE 6 or prior, I don't have a fix.

I have looked at the raw HTML code, and I can't find any reason why it is not working right, except for 100% won't format correctly in the Browsers.

ADMIN:

I'm using IE6. Tried IE7 and too many files suddenly became inaccessable hidden files, so I went back to 6. Would not recommend 7 to anyone other than the casual user. It wouldn't even let my VSC midi player access the Temporary Internet folder to play a midi while on line.

Too much "Big Brother" watching out for us going on with Microsoft.

I don't print the manuals anymore, so it's not a problem here, just thought to confirm one way or another.

Hoster Manual

What a futile mission this has become. Is there anyone out there who CAN print the manual for Hoster 3.316 that would be willing to do so, and send it to me? I would be happy to reimburse you for your time and materials. If so please contact me at jsheltraw@dc.rr.com.

Appearantly this option has not been considered by MTU or I would be hearing something other than "we can't help any further" or "I don't have a fix". Please excuse my "attitude" but I'm a bit peeved that I didn't get what I payed for, namely Hoster 3.316 software AND a MANUAL that tells me how to run it.

You have the Manual on the computer with interactive links to get around in it. Is there some reason why you have to have a printed copy?
If you don't have IE7 then upgrade to it and you can print it with the shrink to fit setting that Admin listed. George has a specific problem with another program and IE7, but most people won't see that kind of problem.

You could always try to copy and paste the text into a word document to format it and print it. I make no guarantees as I don't work for Microsoft or MTU for that matter, but it can't hurt to try.

IE7 only works with XP & higher, I run 2000Pro & it won't work. IE6 is the highest I can go.

Printing Manual

Open up the Hoster manual as normal in HTML, then go to file, save as and select text file in the save as file type box, save a copy to your desktop, you should then be able to print it out the way you want.

That may be a work around point is it shouldn't have to be.
