What version of Hoster?

Have you installed all the Windows updates?

What CD/DVD drives are you using?

Do you have the latest updates from the manufacturer for those drives?

I am asking about your CD drives both internal and external. If you don't know what brand they are how do you know they are up to date? You can find that information through Hoster if you look at the information that is in the Default drive screen (Tools/Default Drive). This will tell you the brand, model and firmware update loaded.

When you say the upgrades are current I am presuming you mean the Windows updates, so that is good.

Definately you need to update your Hoster. You should have received an email from MTU telling you about the free update and where to go to get it and recently too because they just released version 3.314 this week. If you didn't get the email then you may need to put a support ticket to get a link for the upgrade.
There have been some major improvements including better error correction and better code for handling the CD/DVD drives. And if memory serves me right MTU also fixed the clicking too.

Try the update to Hoster then if that doesn't solve it get the info on the CD drives and check the manufacturer's website for firmware upgrades for the model you have.

thanks

Thanks, ddouglass! I will start on this asap. your help is appreciated more than you will know. We are the only providers of karaoke in this area and its a BIG area so the pressure to upgrade with new music only natuarally is huge. I will be in touch with more Q's if I keep running into the problem. Thanks again!!!!!

My first thought is the drive especially if you are getting static and no graphics from the import. You haven't said but since you had an older version I assume that anything you have previously imported is working graphics and all?
Make sure your Windows are up to date by checking the update site from Microsoft.
Also, find out what brand/model of CD drive you have and check that company's website for a firmware update.
If after both of those have been done and it still doesn't work it may be time to try a different drive as this one may be bad.

As Dale Douglas stated,
Your drive is the problem.

If you are now using Hoster 3.314, and it still does this, your drive will not work no matter what. You will have to replace the drive to fix this.
