Using CDG files from HD without importing

I have my own produced CDG'S made from using audio files , vogone and KHPro. So, I'm looking to just play these CDG's from my external HD without importing into Hoster (ver 3.120). Hoster only looks at the drive assuming that it's cd type disk. Is there a way around this ? I don't want to add to my songbook or rebuild my database. I just like using Hoster and don't want to play through MicroStudio.

Any Ideas ?

To PLAY your files from an EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE:
Rename the .CDG extension to .BIN
Use Mp3gToolz to covert the .BIN to ZIP (MP3G)
Add your ZIP (MP3G) to the Playlist via the MP3G Button.

I think your taking that a few steps to many. Change the file extension to BIN and stop there. Hoster can add BIN files the same way it adds ZIP files to the playlist.

Thanks For the info but,
In Hoster when i'm trying to add a file the add file box opens and the file type is specific to the file being added.
For instance if adding a bin file the file box opens and the only choices in the drop down file type is mp3 or zip no choice for *.* files except in the "Disc" selection to add file. When I use disc and add a bin file or cdg I gat a failure message.

Didn't have much luck locating mp3gtoolz either

Check to make sure your Windows XP is up to date and also check to make sure you have the latest firmware update for your Plextor drive. Also try switching the HWEC in the drive setup for the Plextor. This should fix your failure message.

I don't have Hoster in front of me at work so I can't verify a way to add them from HDD. Have you checked all the buttons across the top...CDG, Audio, MP3, Video to see if any of them will do the bin or cdg from HDD and not force you to use CD drive?

The Failure is when I'm trying to use files from my HD not the plextor. Also, Hoster limits the file types for a specific tab selected.

Your answer is Hoster cannot play .BIN files (or .CDG) if they are on the HD Drive and not converted to KMA files. You are the first in 6 years to request this, so I don't think we did wrong in not adding this capability.

I don't understand. If you have spent the time to create your .BIN files from KHPro and Vogone, why not import/convert them to KMA files stored in your Songs Database?

Another option would be to use Microstudio 3.0 to write your .BIN files to a CDG karaoke disc. Then, you can use Hoster's Add Track "CDG" button to play the songs from the disc. Otherwise, you must import them as KMA files.

I think I referenced just that earlier...These are CDG's I produced and didn't wish to import them and contaminate my songbook

Sounds to me he is wanting to play certain files without giving all the customers access to them by importing them. The quick easy way is to use mp3+g toolz and convert those songs to mp3+g and then click the mp3+g tab in hoster and select the song. It will not add it to hoster, allow you to play it from your hard drive and keep it there for later retrieval. I have a directory named mp3+g that I store those file in for easy location. Here is the link for mp3+g Toolz

This is what I do for my KHP songs.
