Question random loss of audio

I have a strange problem that I don't know how to solve Several months ago whilst on a show in the middle of playing a track the audio stopped but the lyrics carried on, this was corrected by restarting the song. Since then the same thing has happened about 8-10 times (most recently last night) all on different songs at random times and I can not recreate the fault.

Please advise me ,

Thanks

I was looking at the wrong thing and managed to upgrade Hoster ok but needed to download dotnetfx.exe as requested by the Hoster installation package in order for the upgrade to take place. However I got got confused on the sound card website (Realtek) and wasn't sure which download I needed. The fault has occured again (every night now for the last 4 nights) since upgrading Hoster and always has happened within the first 8-ish songs.

is it the same songs or different ones each time it happens,
have you tried playing mp3s to see if it happens to them also. Bob

Are you advising all windows updates? It doesn't really make sense that it had been working fine for so long then just decided to act up!

The problem has only occured on my KMA files, I have not experienced this with any other audio.

The KMA files that have acted up vary from songs rarely sung to one's that are used most nights.

Actually it does make since Kate. Windows (no matter which version) tends to become a memory hog over time. One of the best things you can do is to clear out the temp directorys (including the one under C:\windows and the one under C:\documents and settings\administrator\local settings). Then defrag all of the drives. Slow drive access due to fragmentation will cause audio dropout.

You may have got it there Dale, that would explain why I had the problem several months ago for a while then nothing, then back again. I have now cleared out my temporary directorys and run a defrag, I'll let you know how I get on.

Many thanks!

I agree with DDouglass When starting up windows out of nowhere, the space time continium is disrupted, and causes a transmicular radion distortion. actually if you go through the stargate to do karaoke on other planets it also won't work. Too bad Klingons love karaoke.

Kate,
I had this a couple of years ago. I was having it bad on video's. Problem here was not enough ram. I upped it to 2 gig, and no more problems. I now have 4 karaoke machines with 2 gig each, and don't even get so much as a hiccup.

Hi all,

I still have problems :-( it's happening daily and I have system restored, upgraded Hoster, cleared out my temporary directories, defraged, run a virus check, uprated my ram and now i'm just as confused as when I started.

Any ideas?

Last night I experienced the fault twice in the same evening and also seems to be the first time that it didn't happen within the first few songs, in fact it took over an hour for it to happen the first time and then another couple of hours before it happened again. Normally it happens within 2-6 kma songs played!

I'm desperately seeking some advise!
