![]() You can only convert kma to wav in real time through sound card while playing in Hoster with perhaps some loss of quality. This would take forever to do and I would not even be worth trying unless you only wanted to do a few. But if you have the kma's you should have the discs and using the discs would be easier than using the kma. All you would have to do is extract the wav file form the disc. This would be mucho quicker and cleaner.
There are lots of software programs out there to do that with from $30 to several hundred dollars. Hope this helps! wallymeister ![]()

Thanks.
I want to convert the kma files to wav files so I can edit them in Cakewalk for back-up tracks. I can record them down to a tape and back into Cakewalk, but the quality is gone and it takes forever. I just thought someone would have an easer way. |

![]() Again, don't you have the original discs? If you do, I believe you can import them into cakewalk straight from the disc. Not real sure of that but anyway there are lots of wav editors available. I use Sound Forge for most of my wav editing.
If you can record to a tape you should be able to record straight from Hoster to Cakewalk, that is if both software programs are on the same computer. Or even if they aren't, you could go from sound card out to sound card in and accomplish the same thing. Going to Tape is where you are losing most of the quality. You may need some extensive knowledge of sound card settings to do this depending on the sound card itself. Hope this helps, wallymeister ![]()

Thanks. I'll try a few things. Crazy as it sounds.....My dog ate my disc, so all I have is the hard drive.

Problem is it is taking longer than expected (hey... its software!!!) getting our new CD/DVD Drive interface code to WRITE either an Audio CD or a Karaoke CDG disc. We are releasing a beta version out today that tests the new IMPORT/READ, but Playing and Writing discs are not there yet. If your need is critical, Wallymiester's suggestion of card-to-card is the best. I can't commit when Microstudio 3.000 will release. There is another program I remember hearing about that can record anything played out the audio card as a .wav file... before it is sent to the audio card. This would give you a .wav file of the exact length of the playing file. I'm sorry I don't have the product name, and the person who told me is out of town for several more days. Maybe someone else has heard of it. ![]() |

Take a look at "Total Recorder".
Google "Total Recorder" and download the trial version. It's a great piece of software and it will do what you want. Gary |
