Search not finding Hoster Songs

I have 3 Karaoke shows. I have 1 laptop with an external hard drive, the other shows are regular PC's. the laptop has the problem of not finding all the songs in the search. I can go to a song in the upper part of Hoster by searching by brand and the disc and song shows up and will play but it will not show when i type in the song name or artist in the search. I have rebuilt the songs and merged kma's and nothing is working. Anyone got any ideas????

Search not finding all songs

Beavis
I may not have been specific enough, when I type in Gretchen Wilson it will show some but not all of the songs, I can go to the brand name and pull up the songs and they are there under the brand name and will play properly. I have not changed any settings on the computer or program. The same happens with SHeDaisy. I am not sure what has happened, the Drive name is correct because it pulls up songs and all the songs are in the external hard drive. thanks for the quick reply just not sure what has changed.

If the song is titled "wilson, gretchen" it will look for it in that order alphabetically. The exact spelling and sequence of letters and words are crucial in the search.

Type in wilson, g and see what you get.

search not finding song

Thanks but even it i type gretchen or wilson it does not bring up the song, and when i type the exact song name or a portion of it it does not bring up the song but when i go to the brand disk, this one happens to be ASK1535(All Star Karaoke) it was the only one at the time that had Holdin' You, it comes up and plays. all of my other computers(desktops) work properly and will bring up all the songs, That is what is perplexing me. The laptop is a back up system that I take when I play away from town so that if something happens to the main system I can have the show back up and running in a short time. Also if i click the disc# box it is not recognizing the ASK1535 and yet I have gone in the external hard drive and they are there under that name. I have rebuilt the song database several times and merged KMA's incase it was a duplicate #. I hope that I have provided enough into to explain the problem. again Thanks Guys for any help

Do not just "rebuild the database."

You should erase the file songs.mdb and this will force hoster to rebuild the entire database from scratch. If this doesn't work, then make sure that you don't have conflicting bookid's and that all the folders are properly accounted for in the rebuild screen.

search not finding songs

On the pc I have Hoster 3.301 and on the laptop i have 3.300. I deleted the songs.mdb and songback up. I rebuilt the database and in the search box it will not find all of the songs by gretchen wilson(using wilson or gretchen) also with sugarland and not sure how many more. I just put 4 more discs in today. I put them in the pc and then copied to an external drive and then copied to the laptop external. when i look up cb60350 on the top portion of hoster it will show the songs but when i use the search box and try to find any of the songs it does not show up. i also tried searching disc# for cb60350 and says it does not exist. I then brought the actual disc to the laptop and reimported it, it still does not locate it in the search function. the other pc's have no problem with this and recognize the songs in the search function. it did show that i have 99 duplicate id#'s and i merged the kma's but still no luck. I am getting a little frustrated when it is just the laptop that this is happening to. thanks for any help you can give, I did not see this in the hoster manual. Maybe I am incorrectly transferring files but do not understand how it words on the towers but not on the laptop

Like Chip suggested it sounds like maybe a duplicate bookid problem.
Are your GW songs any of those on the dup id list?

Search not finding all songs

On the laptop I upgraded to 3.303. I deleted the songs.mdb and the song back up. I rebuilt the song db and had some duplicate book id#'s . I then merged the kma's to get ride fot he duplicate book id's. I can still find the song by using the brand search at the top of hoster but the search function to find gretchen or wilson will not bring up all of her entered songs even though they are in the file. I have only 1 file where all of the cdg's are downloaded into so it is not a matter of hoster not being able to locate the file. As i understand hoster the merge kma's will assign new book id's to the duplicate so after doing that I should be able to locate any song by the search box. I talked to one other hoster user and he suggested to go back to 3.006 version. This problem has only been in the last few months and did not come to light until last week when I had to use the brand id# to locate songs. This is almost like going back to using discs, although not that labor intensive. I just do not understand what is happening here when the rest of the computers work just fine, just the laptop is experiencing this problem

Search not finding all songs

I have checked the typos, nothing there. I have merged all kmas and nothing shows now. I just went in and checked to see where the chartbuster 60000 series ended in the search function. The last once that shows in the search by brand id is cb60328. that means that cb60329 through cb60351 are not shown in the search function, and yet when i go to the top portion and bring up chartubster pro country they are shown there. One of the disks that had gretchen wilson on it was in the duplicate book id file and after merging kma's, it still did not show on the search function. I have tried about everything I know of.

if you have access open up your songs mdb sort by bookid ill bet you have dupe book id maybe the merg command is not working right

if you have dupe bookid and merg doe's not work right
delete all kma from the one unit that is giving you the trouble and copy over from the kma from the hard drive that is working right

when you do this make sure you delete songs mdb and back up songs mdb

if this does not work will try something else

search not finding all songs

I have deleted and copied from another computer the kma's. I have deleted the songs.mdb and song backup. in the database file within hoster there is also bucket, hoster(dat file), Temp(an access database), Temp1access-record locking and temp1 (text document).
I can still use the top portion of hoster to pull up a song by brand name and it shows up right where it should but when I try to use the search function most of the recently entered songs will not show.

do i need to delete any of the other files other than the songs.mdb and song-backup?

All you need to do is delete the Songs.mdb file. Then Reopen Hoster, it should then start rebuilding the database.

This is the only file that the search is linked to. If it is damaged it can cause this to happen.

The only other thing is that, if you have imported some songs into a different folder that you don't have set to be built into your database on your laptop, this would also make the files not show in the search.

Make sure you have the same .kma files on all 3 computers so that you know that you have them. Then make sure all the files are being built into your database.

songs not finding all songs with search

Bryan
All kma's are in one folder. I have deleted songs.mdb in hoster database have also tried it with deleting songs and songs backup. I have reuilt the song database after each of these. A lot of the recently added songs do not appear when i search by song name or artist in the search function. if i use the brand function at the top of hoster and go to chartbuster pro country i can pull any song up if i know the disc#. discs cb60329 through cb60351(inclusive) do not show up in the search function. I do not know what else to do when it is only the laptop and not the other pc's that is having this problem. I also updated to 3.003 to see if any portion of my hoster program had been corrupted, no joy in hosterville for me on this laptop using the search function.

i would try and remove hoster from your hard drive, then go to c: drive and delete the micro folder all together and try a fresh install. make sure you back up any files you want to keep.

songs not finding all songs with search

i just reuilt the song database again and it showed 30 duplicate song id's, merged kma's and then reuilt song database again and it showed the same 30 duplicate songs again. It would appear that the merge kma file is not working. I went into the suildsongdblog and threre are three discs that showed duplicate book id's, these are not any of the chartbuster discs. Could this affect the other songs not coming up in the search function??
