graphics does not keep in sync

the graphics sweeps are out of sync, they seem to be random across a song, some parts in sync others completely out, i've checked the ati drivers are upto date.
I cannot change it to a standard pc as it is a hyperthreading pc and I will loose all the performance.
I ahve played around with dxdiag, not got anywhere.
The thing is this is an upgrade, i've used verson 3108/ 3110 / 3120 and all of the worked perfect on the same setup, i only got the upgrade because I wanted to be up to date, what has changed on the graphics from all the other versions, 3120 was working perfect until I upgraded it tonight

What ATI Video card do you have?

There was nothing that was changed with the Graphics from 3.120, that I am aware of.

It does Require DirectX 9 to correctly work.

Try doing this also, to see if it makes any difference.
If DirectX still won't hold it's settings after trying what Bryan suggested, you can go in through the back door.

Open CONTROL PANEL.

Open SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES.

Open AUDIO.

Under SOUND PLAYBACK DEFAULT DEVICE open ADVANCED.

Open PERFORMANCE.

You can now change the audio hardware accellerator.

If it still won't hold the new setting, something is not right with the os, as Bryan indicated.
