completely unresponsive tech support- can any users help??

the folks who work at MTU seem to have no interest in answering any of my repeated support requests- no idea why.. not BAD answers, rather NO replies whatsoever, - (maybe they are shut down??) but i sent a request in about once a week since the end of last year.. so i appeal to any other hoster users for any advice you can give.
Hi there, I recently upgraded to 3.3 and it tells me it now supports my cd drive, but so far, in practice, it does not. chemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I actually have two different laptops with different cd drives, and I get the same error and program crash with both. Below you’ll see the steps, please provide any advice you can to get things working.

Win xp, Compaq Presario v2000.

1)From hoster, go to tools\cd drives

(in both cases drives appear)

2)choose OK.

3)go to import\import cd tracks

Select cd type, and track.

4)choose NEXT under BOOK ID ROOT.

5)Choose ADD DISC TRACKS TO IMPORT—

6)select all tracks but the last one ( just in case, although I have tried with and without. )

6a)note- if I highlight a track and choose play-I then incorrectly get a prompt to “click an imported track below then press this button again to play it” (it was already highlighted to start with)

7)choose PROCESS THE SELECTED TRACKS I briefly see a progress indicator, then the program closes. I then receive:

Hoster Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. And

AppName: hoster.exe AppVer: 3.3.0.0 ModName: hoster.exe

ModVer: 3.3.0.0 Offset: 000ba7a5

I receive this error every time. I have tried removing\reinstalling hoster, different pcs, different compression ratios, different cd drives, , I have tried checking off the software [processing? Forget the word] and different CDGs

1karaoke club pack 98

2top hits monthly pop

3 sound choice teen pack 3

4legends baseline vol 2 and a few others. All fail with same behavior.

I also get this error when I try just to play a CDG, rather than import it.

Drive=
IDE\CDROMHL-DT-ST_RW/DVD_GCC-4243N_______________1.07____\5&704B1D6&0&0.0.0

And second laptop is also a compaq v2000, but with a completely different drive:

IDE\CDROMTEAC_DV-28E-N___________________________A.6A____\5&2D04CCCB&0&0.1.0

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

Peter

Talking this is where you're supposed to ask these questions

well congrats on reading the manual and coming to the forums for your answers. Mtu ALWAYS reponds to forum questions first. i'm sure someone will come along soon with an answer for you. I'll be a preemptive here.. Do you have all the latest windows updates, drivers, bios, etc??? If not, get them ASAP because 90% of the time that is the underlying problem. List what kind of computer you are using and the Specs for it, including drive types/brands, memory, processor, operating system, etc.

Good luck.

Bryant,
you need to update to the latest (3.301 update ) it fixed several things you would have eventually seen.

3.30 to 3.301 update

Thanx, but now I am nervous because of the problems I keep reading about the update. How exactly do I get the update and attempt to install it effortlessly?

When you bought hoster you had a download site on that page. you cluck that, and it will download. I have seen no problems with 3.301, I believe you will like it.

If you dont have that, sign into your store account on the mtu sebsite. I believe it will have your information there.

My other question is what exactly will the3.301 update do?
Or is that too expansive of a question at this time?

read this http://mtu.com/support/hoster-versions.htm

As far as being completely unresponsive, I believe this fix speaks for itself. If they were out here reading the many emails, they would have little time to make these changes.

Now I understand that the original hoster 3.30 can be installed on two (thought I saw a three once) computers.
Does this upgrade work the same way? I haven't installed Hoster 3. 30 on a second or third computer yet(just on one). Will I need to save this upgrade to add onto Hoster 3.30 when I DO install it later or will I get two new installs of 3.301 that includes all the previous 3.30 stuff in it.

guns, how does the upgrade work. Is it a complete program in itself or does it need to be installed on top of the existing? For example, I haven't installed the second copy yet, will I just have to install the 3.301 upgrade on the second computer when I am ready, or will I have to install 3.30 then install the update on top of it too?

I am referring to a second computer later on.

So what you are saying is that we can install the 3.301 on two different computers? But if one tries to install it on two other computers other than the two he may already have 3.30 on?
Sounds like an odd situation?

You are only allowed to install hoster on 2 computers total. Not 2 computers with 3.30, and 2 computers with 3.301 If you have it on one computer now, it will be considered an update. That is one installation.

I am not MTU, But I do know how things work.

Thanx guns, and yes you are quite informative. That's why I am peppering you with questions while you are on at this time? Do you know anything aout messageoke pro( It is an enhancement to Hoster and should be allowable for discusion here if it improves the sale-ability of the product). Anyway, when messageoke displays, it only uses two thirds of the second screen size, do I need to look at preferences or settings somewhere so it fills that second monitor screen?
