Some Basic Ripping Questions

Hi Guys,

I finally broke down and bought the $200 DVD drive from MTU, and am ready to convert my CDGs to KMA. I had some questions about some of the features. FYI - I am using Hoster version 3.006 - i bought it about a year ago, and have never upgraded (I usually don't like to get new software versions until they work the bugs out). At this point, I'm not even sure if I can upgrade at no charge, or if I have to pay for any upgrades.

The first disc I inserted was a Chartbuster Country Hits of January 2005 (#60334). In the Import Songs screen, I selected Chartbuster Pro Country. The default disc numbers available range from CB60001 to CB60328 - is this because I need to update the software? Anyway, I had to manually enter the song title and artist - it would be nice not to have to do that.

The book ID is a confusing thing to me. What is the purpose of this? Do I really need to use this as I enter songs? I was able to rip the one disc, but I am stopping the project until I get more information on these issues.

Finally, I got an error message when I got to the last track on the disc, and it did not rip correctly. The Error message stated that "Unable to read sectors 274810 to 274835 on device 3:0:0 Read/Write error or bad medium detected". Is this one of those CDGs with copy protection?

Thanks,
Paul

All the newer Chartbuster, Sound Choice and Top Tunes disc's are multisession. This is a form or copy pertection. If you upgrade to Hoster 3.3 you can import the last track. The new version lets you import songs on a multisession disc. Most of the newer disc's you will have to type in the song and artist. They are not in the data base.

How would I upgrade my Hoster version 3.006? Should I download the free demo, and simply enter my original registration code?

Go to mtu main page and log into your store account. Use you user name and password you got with your email when you bought Hoster. Then you can buy the upgrade from there.
