Unable to delete songs

I'm cleaning up my hard drive and deleting some songs that I don't need or want. I'm using Tools / Edit Songs to search for the song. I then highlight the song and select delete. Occassionally I get an error message indicating that it is unable to delete song - status=32.
Does anyone know what this means or how I can delete these songs from my hard drive?
Thanks, Stephen

If you have loaded that song in the playlist it will not delete. The only way it will delete is to close Hoster and reopen Hoster and then delete the song.

As Larry stated, this is the only way that we know of that it would not allow deleting.

Did you try re-starting Hoster without loading any songs to the play list and then delete?

delteting songs

I loaded 3.30 and imported a disk into it, using the dvd/dvdrw in the laptop. I played most of the songs after the conversion to kma, and the playback quality was terrible. by the end of most of the songs, there was so much litter on the screen from bits and pieces of words, that it was nearly un-readable. I thought it might be the drive, so I went to windows explorer to remove the songs, and it said they were removed, but in reality they were still on the data base. The songs wouldn't play, but the title and book ID were still there.
I then tried loading the same disk using my trusty Plextor drive, and low and behold, the same thing happened with the screen quality. But, before I imported the disk the second time, I had to assign it a new book ID number, it would not allow me to import using the previous number. Now I have 2 book ID number the same, and one doesn't work.
So either the disk is bad (it is fairly new) or my plextor is becomming faulty, or the original import is still there and not being written over, or heaven forbid, 3.30 has an importing flaw....
Any comments are welcomed
Thanks

when you use Windows to delete songs instead of using tools/edit songs from within Hoster, the only way to remove the songs from the database and free up the rootids is to delete the file "songs.mdb" and rebuild the database.

As for quality try checking/unchecking the "software decodiing" box under select drives and see what happens.

I haven't had any problems with 3.3 on any imports. Mine all work great. Sounds like a dirty disc or problems with your plextor. Do you have Micro-Studio so you can play the disc on the computer? Or do you have a CDG player you can play it on to see if is the disc or not.

I tried the disk in my rsq333 player, and all tracts work just fine. the disk doesn't appear to be scratched or dirty. I'll try checking and unchecking the software decoding box and see what happens. thanks

When importing with the Plextor make sure that you go to the Tools Menu\CD/DVD Drives Default. Make sure Use Software Decoding is unchecked when using a Plextor drive.

This can cause the Plextor to have bad graphics.

Funny
Assuming you've already deleted the KMA from your song folder and assuming everything was instsalled in it's default loacation.

From within Hoster go to Tools/Build Songs Database, and make sure the location of your KMA's is displayed in the box, if it is then close that window and exit Hoster. If the location is not displayed then press "select folder" and navigate to the location and press "select"(probably C/program files/micro technology Unlimited/Hoster/Songs. And then click Close and exit Hoster

Now In Windows go to C/program files/Micro Technology Unlimited/Hoster/Databases/Songs.MDB (Windows may or may not show the .MDB extension - it may just show the file type as Microsoft Access Database), and delete "songs".(make sure it is the file called "songs" Not the folder called "songs".

Now start Hoster once again, it will immediately detect that the database is missing and will rebuild it before actually opening the program. As long as ALL the KMA's associated with that root ID were deleted, those root ids will be freed up for re-use.

Hope I typed slow enough
Sam
