Question Hoster/internet problems

I have purchased Hoster 3.3 upgrade. I have my Karaoke computer, and my home computer. For some reason, I cannot connect to the internet now to install my 3.3 upgrade. My question is, can I upgrade with my home computer, and then download it on my Karaoke computer, without the hassle of the internet with my Karaoke computer? I don't know what the problem is...seems to be an MSN issue. I would just as soon use my home computer for the internet, and not my Karaoke computer.

Great to hear from you.

You can use any computer to download the upgrade and then use a usb stick drive to transfer it, and the really cool thing about 3.3 that I haven't seen anyone mention yet is that you no longer need a floppy or trick a usb stick drive to think it's a floppy in order to activate the software without Hoster being online. You can use a usb stick drive as is to activate, it won't harm any other files you might have on there, and you can leave the activation file on there for later use if you should need to uninstall/reinstall.

I always download the upgrade from my work computer burn it to cd, then install it on my karaoke computer. You don't have to be connected to the internet to do an upgrade.

As stated you can always do the upgrade without having to connect, once it has already been installed on the system.

problem downloading

First of all, thank you for replying; and nice to hear from you, Sam. I downloaded my 3.3 upgrade to my home computer; but, when it came to registering, it stated that I already had this on two computers, and to notify MTU support. I can't complete my download. Please advise, thank you, Daryl

If support doesn't pick up on it here I'd post it over in "Critical-registration problems"

Looks like you have four issues:
1. Connecting to the Internet
Quote:
For some reason, I cannot connect to the Internet
2. Upgrading your HOME Computer:
Quote:
can I upgrade with my home computer
3. Somehow "DOWNLOAD" the UPGRADED Home Computer info to the KARAOKE COMPUTER:
Quote:
can I upgrade with my home computer, and then download it on my Karaoke computer
because, you:
would just as soon use my home computer for the internet, and not my Karaoke computer.

4. From POST #5 - Registering on Multiple Computers.
Quote:
but, when it came to registering, it stated that I already had this on two computers

#1. I'll assume you are having a problem with JUST the Karaoke Computer connecting to the Internet, and, NOT a problem with the HOME Computer connecting to the Internet....is this correct?

You may access your MTU ONLINE account from any Computer that has a successful Internet Connection, which will give you access to download your Software.

Now, in POST #1, you talk about wanting to DOWNLOAD the Software with your HOME Computer, but in POST #5 you stated that you are trying to REGISTER the software on you HOME Computer:
Quote:
I downloaded my 3.3 upgrade to my home computer; but, when it came to registering, it stated that I already had this on two computers
Well, which is it? Do you ONLY want to download the Software to the HOME Computer or Download and Install it on the HOME Computer?

#2. You can UPGRADE a Computer that has Hoster Installed on it.

#3. If you mean by "DOWNLOAD" that, after Installing Hoster on your HOME Computer, you want to know if you could copy the Contents of the Hoster Folder, on the HOME Computer, to the KARAOKE Computer, then, the answer is NO.

If you mean by "DOWNLOAD" that, you want to Download Hoster to the HOME Computer and, then, transfer the Downloaded Hoster.EXE File to the KARAOKE Computer the answer is YES. But, you will need to an UPGRADE if there is NO Internet connection.

#4. One copy of Hoster may be Registered on TWO Computers. The second registration is for Backup Purposes. In other words, you may use the Backup Hoster Installed Computer in a Karaoke Show if either your MAIN Karaoke Hoster Installed Computer fails or you would rather use the Backup Computer as your MAIN Karaoke SHOW Computer. But, now, the FIRST "Original Karaoke SHOW Computer" must become the Backup and NOT used in a SHOW.

You should not arbitrarily Install on a SECOND Computer as, once you do, the REGISTRATION will be LOCKED to the SECOND Computer as the REGISTRATION was LOCKED to the FIRST Computer.

So either, if BOTH Computers FAIL or you simply want to Install Hoster on an ALTERNATE Computer, you will not be able to REGISTER the same copy of Hoster to, and would be, a THIRD Computer.

At that point, you will need to Contact MTU to see if there is a way to RESET your REGISTRATION so that your, now, UN-REGISTERABLE copy of Hoster may be MOVED to a Different Computer.

I believe it is allowed to MOVE a Registration if the Computer is still working.

Hope all this helps,
Norm

In answer to some of the questions, yes, I am having problems connecting to the internet with my karaoke computer. Don't know what the problem is, it did at one time. Need to have the guy who built the computer take a look at it. And, I would just as soon NOT connect to the internet with my karaoke computer, to avoid viruses and such. I have only registered Hoster with my karaoke computer, no otrgher computer; so I am puzzled at the 'two computer " response from MTU. I had ordered the upgrade and the disc. For what ever reason, I have not yet received my discs to do the upgrade. Since I had a few days between shows, I wanted to go ahead and get the upgrade downloaded, and get used to the program, and download some titles that I was not able to do with the previous Hoster program. Looks like I will just wait for the disc, and download that way. I would like to know why I have not yet received the discs. It was ordered two weeks ago.
