Unhappy Need Help Getting Started Please... :)

Hello. I am new to Hoster as I have always used a cavs system. I have read the user guide but to no avail. I need help getting started. This is what I have...

10,000 files that are in .cdg and .mp3 format in a folder on an external hard drive. They are all named the same way:

CDName#-Artist-Song.mp3
CDName#-Artist-Song.cdg

How do I get these songs into the hoster database? I tried using the import MP3G option but it does not work. What am I doing wrong?

Thank You!!!

Ok, here is what I think you need to do

Set Field 1 to whatever your CDName is
Set the Delimintor after this to #-
Set Field 2 to Artist
Delimintor after this to -
Set Field 3 to Song Name
Delimintor after this to .

Now try it and see if it works.

That didn't help. I click "Import Tracks" -> "Import hard drive files" -> MP3G and then when the window opens to choose the folder, I browse to the folder that has all of my mp3's and cdg's in it and nothing appears.

Are you putting spaces where they need to be? Look closely at Support's instructions.

This is the input sequence:

DISCID DASH TRACK# SPACE DASH SPACE ARTIST SPACE DASH TITLE.CDG

Looking closely at your illustration, there are no spaces:

CDName#-Artist-Song.mp3
CDName#-Artist-Song.cdg

They should be:

CDName# - Artist - Song.mp3
CDName# - Artist - Song.cdg

When you do gt to the import screen, select the #2 radio button. That matches the sequence used here.

Hope this helps.

George

After you open the folder with your mp3g's are you clicking "select"? Your songs won't appear in that box because you are only selecting the folder they are in. The files themselves should show up on the import hardrive screen after you "select" the folder

Also it would be helpful if you could provide an example of an mp3g file name.

i got to be honest with you MTU, when i first tried importing zip files from the hard drive, it was a little tricky. it took me a couple of tries before i figured out how to do it.

it really depends on how your songs are labeled.

Thankyou for posting back.
Oftentimes I never find out if my suggestions were helpful or not.

Glad I could help.
