More issues... please help
Okay, I'm quickly getting frustrated... I'm now experiencing the following issue with Version 3.110 (I upgraded tonight):
During import of CDG discs, the program locks up and crashes in the same way that was reported in an earlier version (program locks up and disappears, and other windows functions become inoperative). Hoster.exe appears as a process in Windows Task Manager, but choosing the "End Process" option DOES NOTHING. The only way to get working again is to do a hard reboot of the PC. I'm running Windows XP, on a P4 2.8Ghz system with 1GB of RAM. The import drive is a Plextor. Also, it seems as though the importing process is taking FOREVER compared to previous Hoster versions. Can anyone recommend some changes I can make to speed it up? |

did you buy this computer for hoster or did you use one that was laying around the house ?
did you get all windows updates ? did you update your video card driver from the manufacturer ? if you use a computer you were using for your personal use, you should have reformatted it before installing hoster. the only reason hoster would be importing slow is if you are importing cheap burned CD's |

All Windows Updates are installed. The video card driver is likely not a factor here; video plays smoothly on both my home PC and my laptop. Additionally, I should not have to reformat ANYTHING before using Hoster, especially before using an upgraded version of Hoster. The CDG that was being imported when Hoster crashed was Supercore #21, from the new 2005 pack. I don't use burned CDs. Keep the suggestions coming, please. |

Are you using XP Home or XP Pro. I am trying to find a problem on some systems that seems to crash under XP home, so far while importing .cdg files from the HD into Hoster. Not sure why, as I won't have an XP Home system to test until Monday, but then I will find out.
I have 2 beta testers testing the next version, that are reporting this, they both have XP Home. We are unable to reproduce this on XP Pro or Win 2k.

As luck would have it, I am running XP Home (Version 2002, with Service Pack 2). Ordinarily I'd be fine with starting/restarting, but it's getting tedious and one of the restarts also caused a loss of all of the karaoke .zip files that I had planned to convert to .kma files (the hard reboot damaged the file structure on the external drive, and the only fix was to reformat the drive). So, I'm back at square 1. |

The non-functioning key changer is another issue that I can't figure out... I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be working. |

If you'll read Support's post, the problem is in importing CDG files from the hard drive. Zip files were working o.k.

My only problem with zip files now is that all of mine are toast. |

It sounds as to me if you might have something wrong with the system that is causing this on yours.
I am testing on an XP Home system, brand new system I just built today. It has all of the Windows Updates and it is working perfect, importing .cdg files from the HD and also Importing CD Tracks from multiple disks. George, can you give me any other input on trying to make it crash with the .cdg files as I know that you had this problem also. I am unable to make it happen again.

George,
Just named 7 files the same names and have not been able to make it crash no matter what with batch either. Still shooting in the dark.

Is your ASPI Layer Installed? Simply installing Hoster will NOT Install the ASPI Layer.
If not, or you don't know where to look, download this file: aspi_471a2.exe from: http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/sup...s+ASPI+Package Then, double click this file: aspi_471a2.exe and Click OK to expand (unzip) the files to the Adaptec\ASPI Folder. Then, OPEN the Adaptec Folder and then, OPEN the ASPI Folder and Click on this file: aspichk.exe You should see FOUR (4) files Installed and you should see ASPI is Fully Installed and Operational grayed-out at the Bottom-Left. If nothing is Installed or ALL FOUR (4) files are NOT Installed, then, close the ASPI Verification Window and Click on this file: aspiinst.exe to perform an Install of the ASPI Layer. Reboot After Re-Booting, Double-Click the: aspichk.exe again, to ensure that the ASPI Layer is correctly and FULLY INSTALLED. If the ASPI Layer is Installed correctly, open Hoster and click on the TOOLS Button. In the Drop Down Box, Click on DETECT DRIVES and Click OK to the Drive that is Listed. Click on the TOOLS Button, again, and, in the Drop Down Box, Click on CD/DVD Drive Defaults and Click OK to the CD/DVD Drive that is Listed. If none is Listed, Click the Drop Down Arrow and Select One. The, Click OK. If you still have problems, select 16X Speed instead of AUTO SELECT SPEED. Norm |
